Default GTR stock manifold/turbo = custom kit???

I know its an old subject that teh GTR will have integrated manifold turbos.

but the idea was just tossed into me that maybe these could be used on VQ blocks as custom setup, or maybe even bolt up to poping of alreadt kits out.

any one have pics of the current VQ manifold sets to compare..

i know it sounds, a lil silly but i am curious to this..

those turbine housings look like they are part of the manifold casting? I've never seen that before. That would pretty much eliminate easy turbo swaps. It looks like someone will have to come out with new manifolds before a GTR owner can put bigger turbos on.

BTW, the bolt pattern on the manifold looks the same as the regualr VQ though.

Looks like there is def going to be a market for manifolds I can't wait to see the big turbo kits coming out for those.

For the DIY, you could cut it off and flange it I suppose.... definitely easier than say on a SRT4:

Damn that is pretty weak. No easy turbo upgrades for the GTR! I wonder why Nissan did that to a supercar?

In one of the GTR press videos they made it known that they spent considerable time making the ECU impervious to any aftermarket tampering so it wouldn’t surprise me that they made everything else difficult.

Weak. A GTR should always be tuner friendly as that is its most loyal owner.

Mine's, Top Secret, and MCR already hand their hands on the GTR, so i'm waiting to see how they beat out the system

Def. seems possible Nissan doesn't want too much aftermarket activity going on with the GTRs. The price tag of the car itself, the oem components, the possible warranty guidelines, etc.. I was discussing this with other members of the forum. Nissan has definately shifted the traditional genre of the new GTRs compared to the previous ones. I'd say thanks to Ghosn... Kind of a shame.

That is pretty crazy though. I've never seen an integrated mani/turbo. I doubt the patern will fit the VQ motor but who yet knows...

maybe nissan wants to make it overly difficult for aftermarket tuners to cost effectively modify the car so that they can maintain control of modifying it thru their nismo product line?

Seems like the most obvious thing. Although I feel that the longterm "love" of a car balances on the ability to mod the car easily.

I really don't see any point to this until real turbo kits are for the GTR are out, like setups that replace everything, turbos, manifolds, etc. But that what, like 2-3 years away?

Depends on the demand and customer base that buys the car.

I think its a cost thing. Why pay for two seperate components to be cast. A one piece design looses the extra hardware, gaskets and logistics behind part number Etc. Then when it comes time to service them Nissan can charge even MORE!

oh and

+1 on phunk's statement
