Default So i am thinking of upping the boost! (doh)

I knew this was going to happen . Car felt fast as **** when i picked it up and now it feels slow as ***** and i feel like i am going to fall asleep when going WOT. In order to remedy this feeling of inadequacy i am thinking of taking it to Sharif soon and getting him to up the boost. As of right now the car makes 405whp @7.5 psi on his dyno dynamics. I would like to get to about 450whp on his dyno and i think it would take about 9-9.5 psi to get there. I am planning on building the motor this summer and i do not use my car as a daily driver so i have other means of transportation. My question to you guys is do you think it is worth the risk?

Thanks
Chris

Dont do it ....If you are making 405 on Sharif's dyno, thats fast.

Making 450 on a DD with a stock block....I see problems in the near future.

Also...you said that you will be building soon...just remember if you damage your stock block to the point where Sharif cannot use it...thats more $$$$ you have to shell out.

my 2 cents

Kaboom~!

Why risk all that money invested for 50 more whp?

Its your call, If you got the money to invest additionally "WHY NOT"?
I would seriously think about water/meth injection and get it retuned. you'll see the INCREASED HP right there. $500 up+ tune > blown motor.

if you are goin to build your motor, might as well push the stock block. you'll have a new motor soon anyhow.

all good points.

It is just really tempting since i am only running 7.5psi w/ these big fawking turbos. It just takes very little to get more power out of them

Exactly. You destroy the block, that's $1300-2000 you're going to have to add to the bill if you don't have a usable core.

IMO breaking is the only time to upgrade...turn it up!

It is not worth making 50 extra horsepower. If you have plans to build the block anyway then you should wait so you dont geek up the engine you already have. If you add the 50 and then it feels slow and you want even more boost then you blow your motor then it will feel really slow But if you have fun with what you have and then build your motor, it will be really fast and then if you want you can turn the boost up as high as you want!!(depending on how well the motor is built)

You might be ok bumping it 1-2psi if you put in some race gas, but I would only do that at the track for short periods.

Even with race gas you'd be approaching the limits of the stock rods... so don't blame me if you blow it.

I personally drive the car around town on a daily basis with about 500whp and it feels normal slowish to me. If you up the boost you'll just be in the same boat a month from now, at the risk of blowing your motor.

IMO buy a slow car and drive that half the time
that'll make your car feel faster

more wheel spin with street tires isn't going to make you feel any faster until you reach 4th or 5th gear

450whp on his dyno is 475+whp on a DJ

I wouldnt even think about it....just wait until you build and dont destroy this motor/core.

I already did buy a slow car (98 jeep cherokee) and it DOES make me appreciate driving my car more.

I do agree w/ you on the wheel spin. My first step is to replace my tires w/ some 285's and get the camber dialed in. As it sits right now 1st, 2nd, and most of 3rd are useless. Even when i shift from 2nd to 3rd from a roll the a$$ end of the car starts to swing out on me.

DAMN ALL YOU PEOPLE AND YOUR LOGICAL THOUGHTS!

Your probably right man

If i was going to attempt this i would plan on using a meth injection kit and it would ONLY be for the occasional use

I would only do it, if you were prepared to build the engine if something breaks. It's still unlikely that it will break at 9psi, but I like to play it safe.

Just build the engine... Those turbos are crying to see more air and you're depriving them of it. lol

Seriously, if you're used to 400 whp, you must be in high gear a lot! Anyway, 450 won't be that much different and you will want more anyway. Build the engine and scale boost up into the 600s in high gear. I doubt you'll get bored then, worrying if that back end is going to swing around when you punch it going highway speeds!

Come help me build my fast car.

Getting your car faster is useless.
