Default Vortech Installation ?!?!

Ok so I have been looking around for a shop to install my charger and no one will do it b/c its used, I have everything but they just wont do it. So I was going to poll and see how bad it is to install my self. I have an oil pan spacer and a plug and play harness so I dont have to splice into the ECU. I would say 60% of the kit is still together the FMU and bracket with pulleys. On a scale of 1-10 how hard is this going to be?? I have a place near by that will make sure all tuning is good and dyno it. SO HELP ME OUT GUYS SHOULD I ATTEMPT IT

if youve done headers the hard way, then this should be cake.

Are you doing the full kit?

It varies.

Sometimes pipes dont line up well, or bolts strip ect.

Id say the worst part will be the fuel lines and mounting the bracket to the motor. Helps if you have somebody around to spot ya.

no.

You have to relocate the ps cooler but thats it in that area. You have to mount the ic in front of the radiator, so make sure the ps cooler is tucked up and in so your not forcing the ic into place.

its really pretty easy if you have everything pretty much assembled mine was used too i think if i did it all at one time i could have had it done in less than 8 hours but i spent 3 months working on it about an hour at a time.. if you know anyone that already has the kit installed i would say take a very close look at it first that would have helped me to see what it should look like but i was doing it blind just with the terrible black and white photos from the instruction manual.. id say go for it.. you will save yourself a ton of money anyway..

This brings up a great point - with as much as the FI kits for the Z cost, would it kill the manufacturers to include a color instruction manual? I realize a lot of times the installs are being done by shops who use the manual for toilet paper because they can slap on the kits blindfolded after doing it so many times, but there are still those of us who like to work on our own cars.

The Turbonetics manual's pictures are basically worthless. It looks like they took them with a polaroid, photocopied them about 30 times over, and then scanned them into a computer.

Yes it can be tuned. Although, I think you'll have to start with a fresh tune.

Alright one last question.. My z is my everyday car and I have my own business, I dont have like 10 hours in a day really to spend doing this, is it possible to do it little by little? Obviously not hooking up the oil lines and fuel pump first but I mean like the intercooler and the bracket and belts like split things up or is that not going to work.

Honestly, I would probably try to knock everything out at once during a weekend.

I say go for it. You and a friend should be able to knock it out in one day, maybe two.

There have been a couple good write-ups on it. One I remember was by LadyJax (not sure if here or on g35driver.com). Good luck!
