Default TN Woes

So I just finished for the day, and all I have left is the water lines. One problem, they are the same length!!!!! I should have 1 36inch and 1 52 inch line. Not possible to run a 36 from the turbo to the other side of the engine.

I know you are frustrated but the response to your problem will be much better delt with if you had spoken with TN directly.

Save face and let TN do the right thing. If they don't, then *****.

I will be calling, but I was hoping one of the guys would see this and pm me, I can't just call up TN on a saturday night. Anyone that buys the kit in the future should look into getting both sizes so that they don't have the same issue.

You don't need to have the waterlines installed to to run the car you know. You could always take the car home and do it then.

I also have the 36" waterline kit, and it was long enough to reach the turbo. Its all in the placement of the T fitting in the coolant hose, and the routing of the line.

It will work. Take a deep breath, improvise, you will be fine. And please, for the love of god, do you need to start a new thread for every little thing that comes up with your install? Your blood pressure must be through the roof.

Just leave it off for now and be done with it, the water lines are nothing more then an after thought for TN and didn't even come with the kit to start with.

BTW, Speaking from someone who does a lot of his own work (me) anyone doing a major project like this should do something before they start.... check the parts list and make sure you got everything! This is VERY important, TN could have already sent out replacement parts before you even got started. Never assume everything is in place.

Let me clarify something while I am at it - the waterline kit from TN either includes 2 52" lines, or 2 36" lines. You are not supposed to get one of each.

The 52" lines are ideal for the 350z, and thats what I ordered from one of TN's distributors, but I got the 36" kit. I made it work. So it WILL work. The driver side is easy, 36" is more then long enough. The passenger side takes a little ingenuity on your part as far as placement of the T fitting and the way you route the line. But it is not rocket science! If you made it this far in the install I find it hard to believe you can't figure out a way to make that line reach.

I'll try to make it work, but how do run it without the waterlines? I don't have a plug for the ports on the turbo for the banjo fitting bolts.

And you are supposed to get one of each, if you go to the turbonetics forum, it has the DIY for the kit.

I think you can just leave the plugs open, if no water goes in, no water should come out, it should just run dry using only the oil to cool it. as long as you didn't cut the water lines behind the motor....

Jessssus.... some people like to bash first and ask questions later.

These guys have all been correct in what they are telling you.

So far, nothing has been messed up in your order, you just haven't put two and two together and freaked out over nothing, both in the wastegate pipe post and now this.

Get out there and get it done. You're almost there.

Ok, i know i should have just taken a few minutes and calmed down, just a frustrating day, i ended up making my own line so that I could get all the way over to where they did on the DIY on the turbonetics owners forum.

Anyways, its all together now. I cycled the key a few times to get the fuel ready, and it started and sounded fine for about 2 seconds. It seems like its running out of fuel. And the fuel pump is nasty loud, at first before I try to start and just turn the key to ignition on, it sounds like a normal fuel pump, but then the sound changes into a really loud whirring/grinding sound. Is this because it didn't prime properly? or could the bearings be bad?

when the car stutters and then shuts off the pump keeps going for about 2 seconds. but its the loud nasty noise, when i try to start again it will make the normal noise just at first and then switch to the really loud noise.

I think I'm going to put the old one back in and see if it will just idle. I know its starving out b/c the A/F gauge is at 14.8 for a bit then shoots up to 20'a and it stutters and shuts off. and the fact that it runs fine for a few seconds makes me think that the injectors are working alright. The pump seems like it gives enough fuel before the car is running, then can't keep up. any ideas? and the pump is very loud, even when the car is running for the few seconds I can still hear it easily.

Ouch.... hmmm.... That's a new one for me. The new warlboro pump will whine quite a bit louder than the stock fuel pump but I've never heard one grind. I can hear mine whirring/whining behind the passenger seat while the car is running. Keep in mind the car will run lean now if you put the *stock* pump in there as it's running lower fuel pressure from the modification done during install.

I guess you could at least tell if it sounds normal when you charge it.

I know, i wont drive it with the old pump in, but rather just see if it will idle.
I hear the normal whine at first, then it changes completely and you can still hear it when the car runs for a few seconds. then it continues for a few seconds after it dies. its the same everytime, normal for maybe a second, then changes to the loud sound. I'll plan on doing it tomorrow after work.

Other than that, nothing sprayed out when it ran the few times haha, hopefully no leaks. we'll see once I get it warm. And the exhaust didn't sound like it was leaking and no rattles either.

mine made all kinds of noises when I first installed it.

Is your gas tank full?

its not full, about half i think, i'll check tomorrow after work when i go over. was it really loud? I can hear it from outside of the car. Maybe its having a hard time priming itself? I've started it probly about 15 times, same result every time, so it should have gas in it.

Yeah mine was really loud, to the point where I could hear it out side of my car. Half a tank is plenty. Less than a 1/4 may be a problem, may not.

would your car run though? if not, how did you fix it? maybe the pump sitting overnight in the tank will help? idk, its easy enough to put the old one in for bit and find out if thats really the problem

Random idea, but when you reinstalled the fuel basket in the tank did you remember to reconnect the siphon hose?

if the black hose that connects to the side of the basket is the siphon hose then yes. is it connected to anything, maybe its in the wrong position?

The other possibility is injectors, if something wierd happened when i put them in. what are the symptoms of injector malfunctions? it sounds smooth when it starts for those first few seconds, so i'm assuming they all squirt a few times. Thats why I'm doubtful that they are the problem.
