Can we not OT my car's thread with yet another TN debate? The kit has its drawbacks, its an old design, there are better ones now; got it... There is no new information here.

fairl80z, that is a boost logic (or similar clone) turbo blanket, and at $100-$150 it is a great investment.

It could never hurt if you have a little extra cash to use on it. Yeah the boost logic turbo blanket is the one I'd go with. Mine is from phase 2 motorsports but all the silver stuff flaked off the outside so I had to paint it.

this is very interesting info. +1 on the turbo blanket. with my blanket I'm able to rest my hand on the hotside of the turbo without getting burnt.

Mine actually felt lukewarm to the touch, not even hot, if I got out of the car and felt it right after it was moving. I'd be willing to say that more heat is generated by the motor than the turbo with a blanket.

One thing about the blanket is that you'll probably want the water cooled 60-1 if you run a blanket. All that heat is being contained in the turbo and it couldnt help to have that water cooling to keep the seals from baking.

Does the intercooler become a restriction within the turbonetics set up? Would switching to a dual core system like speed force racing or to simply a better flowing larger intercooler help brink that 500 mark ?

The intercooler on the TN kit is very small. replacing it would lead to once again having to redesign the entire kit from the ground up...Stick with what you got and try some meth injection to reduce AIT's.

I dont see why replacing the intercooler with a larger one would require you to "redesign the entire kit from the ground up" ?

As long as your end tank in/out flanges are in (relatively) the same place, you can use a thicker or taller core. Obviously anything taller would make you remove the crash beam.

Agree that the money is probably better spent elsewhere, though.

I drive a greddy tt 350z and my friend drives a g35 TN setup

while driving utec showed a 20 degree Celcius increase in the Turbonetics AIT temps.

Keep in mind the g35 gets no air on the intercooler due to it has the stock front bumper.

Not true...

The intercooler that comes with the Turbonetics kit should be efficient to around 500whp. If you want to make more than that I'd suggest going with a larger core.

As spoils said, to install larger intercooler all you will need to do is trim off the intake piping on either side and get the proper couplings to fit the new intercooler. It's quite simple actually.

You can also do methanol injection, but you can probably find a more efficient intercooler and turbo blanket for the same price or cheaper than a water/meth kit. All three wouldn't hurt if you really had the spare cash to drop on it all.

Also, another source of heat on that intake charge pipe is the tab that bolts to the timing cover on the motor. Before we completely redid my intake piping, we trimmed that tab off and it seemed to help keep the pipe from getting so hot. But, in all, the metal intake piping is going to heat up to a certain degre with whatever you do, even on a TT setup.

What did you just say? I'll help you, but not until you tell me that English is not your primary language.

On your turbo kit you are running two stainless steel hoses as I can see on your pictures. One is on left side of your T60-1 turbo and the other one is on the right side. I think it‘s for cooling. Where the other end of these hoses should be connected to? Yes, English is my second language. Sometimes when I type fast and don’t read over of what I wrote, it looks bad in English but it’ll make sense in my language. Sorry ;-(. I also misspell a lot while typing on keyboard with my large fingers ;-)

Yes, those hoses are indeed for water cooling.

They tap into the heater core inlet and outlet hoses behind the engine that run through the firewall. Turbonetics makes a kit that includes the lines, the hose T's, clamps and banjo bolts you need.

There is a great write up with pictures on the turbonetics owner's club website.
