Luie,

Since you started this thread to determine if you wanted to quit and then if you did quit if you should sell the car as a whole or part it out, I was wondering if you would mind posting an end of the day summary of how much you did make from parting out the car and selling the car stock verses how much you would have sold the car in one piece for (I think it was $50K). Just want to see which was actually came out better. And please do factor in the cost for the removal of certain items (turbo kit, motor, etc...)

Thanks,
Mike

Hey luie, Im going to be up in Raleigh two weeks from now so i figured instead of shipping the steering wheel and the defi's ill just pick them up and hand you cash. My phone is crushed so ill be getting a new one once the insurance ships me one. Shoot me a PM if you would rather do it another way.

Well the way things are selling I am going to make a little over $50K alot of this is going to the new car, and all I want for the 350z when back to stock is $18,000 (witch the dealer ship said was no prb). Its just a time consuming deal to part out the car, and also getting ready to go back over to Iraq, will's, family time, packing, you know loose end to tie up just incase you die over there.

How much for the LSD? Wonder how hard the install is. Still got the DR's and wheels? If so, I still want them.

that's not true at all btw. FWIW 996 GT3's have held up very very well value wise. For the "haters", it's also an insanely quick car...bone stock. Is a 997 GT3 faster? Absolutely. Nicer looking? All in the eye of the beholder I guess...both cars look hot to me Is a 997 worth $30-40k more than a 996 one? Depends who's signing the check I guess.

Always gotta love when speculation someone equals knowledge, eh Louie?

Good luck on whatever you get (as cool as the GTR is, I'd go Porsche )

Thnaks for your imput Adam!

It was talked about this weekend while I was at Joes's (what car to get)

I do have a pre order for the GTR so I am committed. (unless someone buys it from me)

One of the cars that kept coming up was the Z06 for easy of tunning, part availability, part cost, and price of car.

When it comes down to it the Z06 is a faster car down the road (not the track), and who's going to take a $80K car to the track with my income (no one). The Z06 traps mid 120's all day long on street tires, where the GTR traps 116-118. Thta on the HWY = GTR getting raped by Corvette. We will soon see??
I would really like to stay in the Nissan community as thats the reason I am getting a GTR.

In the end if I could aford a 997 Turbo, it would not even be up for discussion! The GTR is a sick looking car but it nowhere in hell looks like a 100K car. A 997T looks all the 120K it cost. Plain and simple.

Yep the wheels and tires are at "Modifed Auto Design". The shop Joe works out of. They are there and you can pick them up anytime you feel free. Just give Joe the money when you pick them up. The LSD is something that Joe is looking to pick up, so as for right now,its going on Joes car, but hat could change.

997T is a lot more than 120K, unless you are talking about used?

I agree, the GT-R interior is lacking for its price tag, I guess they didn't want to make it over 4,000lbs so the interior had to suffer? IDK.

I hope you got a white GT-R louie, that would be HOT!

Luie... I still feel that you have made a bad move by selling your Z....but it was your move to make not mine..I have driven in your car and I have just gotten a chance to drive the GTR....I was more impressed with your car. The reason i say this is because after the "off the line "G" force attack" you feel from the stock GTR wears off...you are left with the feeling of a regular FI car. Your car had this never ending pull. Yes, I am quite sure you will mod the GTR...But when? How long will you have to wait and how much will you have to pay for being the first? HR Z/G are still waiting for a main stream of parts!!

If I were you..this is what I would do....I would save and get the 1) 997TT or 2) Z06 ZR1....why I say this? Because what you thing will happen if all the hipe about the GTR does not hold up? What will happen when those SHARKES at the dealership hike up the price so much and kill the market? I told you to wait until the market decides where this car should be placed. I would not pay a dime over 55K for this car....not a dime. I am less impressed with this car now that I have driven one.

I dont want what happened to me to happen to you. Do you remember when the Boxter Porsche first came out? My wife HAD to have one !! Sticker price 31K....those *&^% dealers were hiking the price up to 50K. I told her to wait...but she had to have one. Found one for 46K and like a fool I got it for her. Trade in time I wanted to kill my wife....I was lucky to get 23K....the fair price if I had paid MSRP.

Good luck Luie

FWIW the only thing I think about everyday is Z06 w/ APS TT. I almost bought one from the corvette forums for 60K and I kick myself in the *** everyday for not just pulling the trigger but I've got 2 Zs a Jeep, and a Benz in the driveway so no more room. Z06 is badass alone, has room for huge rubber in the back to support the APS TT when it's on, and is a comfy drive. But it is deff not unique. just my worthless 2 cents. 996 and 997 = you'll never feel okay railing the car. I was scared to destroy my viper and ended up with a Z anything over 100K and my ***** shrivel when I'm driving hard
