AAM Exhaust RANT
A while back when twin turbo was still new to the 350z there was pretty much only one 3" true dual exhaust for the z. that was altered atmosphere's. so i purchased the 3" with titanium tips. when it arrived and was installed it just didnt fit right. the passenger side exhaust hung alot lower than the drivers side. which is pretty evident in this picture.
so later i send a pm to someone from AAM and they reply back saying that it takes time, you need to clock it, etc. the thing is we spent a good 2-3 hours trying to clock it. hell we even tried the exhaust on my mechanics Z and it just didnt fit. and eventually they stopped answering my pms. but i didnt think it would be that much other than a cosmetic issue.
Fastforward
So i get back from the mainland after a year in college anxiously awaiting to get my z ready for its final tune. change the injectors wire my factory computer back up because i was previously running utec. so i get my car ready flat bed it over to my tuner's shop. i get a call today saying theres a few small problems and a big problem. they said a clip came loose on the radiator and i got some of the plug coils mixed up. they said they took care of that no problem. then he said now heres the big problem. your exhaust resonators hit the drive shaft. they said they didnt want to drive the car and told me to just come and pick it up. so now im furious. my exhaust fit like ****. you can tell just by pictures out the back. we did the best job we could to clock it. and now my driveshaft is done.
so -93829048293482309 for AAM quality.

Is your mechanic a professional welder and exhaust specialist? I can have my dentist give me a physical but it wouldn't turn out as accurate as a regular doctor.
Anyways go to a midas/meinike (sp?) and have them adjust it for maybe 50 the exhaust is very large hence fitment needs professional installation. I am not doubting your mechanic i'm sure he can change your oil.

my back bumper needed cutting (G35) to fit and heat wrap to keep it from hitting other metal....its a large exhaust...make sure you get someone who knows how to fit it...

Mine is the same way. The two sides are not aligned and the flex pipes hang too low and end up scraping. My understanding is that they now have a Jig that they use for the G35's but the ones prior to that were just "stretched" 350z exhausts.
To the guys suggesting that we take it to a muffler shop and pay them to adjust it, why would we want to do that when it should fit nicely in the first place? It doesn't make sense to pay more. I'm hoping AAM will take care of this for me since i've complained about it in person a number of times.
No doubt AAM makes nice parts but this is definitely a known problem. I'm hoping Mike or Clint will chime in here and offer some kind of solution.

Local of course will be installed correctly if you so choose to have them do it (they did mine) and for the far away customers have someone who specializes in exhaust install it

Paying 1300+ dollars on an exhaust only to have fitment issues would **** me off as well. Greddy, HKS, APS, Amuse, etc..... never need to be installed by a professional in order to have a perfect fitment. The fact that some have to and other dont, tells me that there are issues with fitment

wow punisher must be getting hooked up pretty good from AAM. I wonder if he plans on responding to each negative post in this thread 1 for 1.
keep it up and you might be able to convince people that your experience is the only experience. god knows nothing could ever be fabricated incorrectly... and AAM has never messed up anything before (fuel system... exhausts).
