Built Motor, was it worth it?

There are many that have followed that path simply because the car blew up & if you are not able to afford it, dont go FI. Otherwises, you will possibly have a turbo kit strapped onto a blown motor & then have the option of selling it for little as is, buying a stock motor & reverting it back to stock, or rebuilding the motor as I stated above. In addition, it is not a sure thing the motor will last after it is rebuilt. I know of guys that have rebuilt their motor multible times even with forged internals.
With that said, selling your 350Z & buying a GT-R is not a over the top option financially, just a option that will allow you a better return on your investment. Do yourself a favor & look at how little guys resale 350Z's with FI installed. You will not get your money back on the investment. Instead, you will get very little if anything back.
It sounds like to me the best thing you could do is drive your Z without going FI, finish your education, buy a home etc, & then when you got money to blow on a car, buy a 500hp + car when your life is more in order. It is a matter of priorities and just remember, after you spend 10-15K on a FI motor, it will still rapidly depreciate where as putting your time & money towards education with only result in appreciation of your lifestyle your entire life.
My bet is you will not follow my advise, will blow your money on a stupid car (meaning poor investment) and extremely limit your earning power in the future based upon that poor investment. If I am wrong, I take back what I said....
To sum it up, a friend of mine told me "a lot of things can happen with a young person & a car & not many of them are good".

+1.....Well said. Not worth the headache, esp. if you're not extemely passionate about the steps you're taking. Turning a 250hp car into a 600hp car, well - whether you like it or not, the car changes you into the super compulsive mad scientist creating frankenstein...You become a dif person for sure. You will never see the return on that investment ever again and when you change your mind down the road and want to drive a dif car you become extremely depressed because you end up selling or parting out your blood, sweat, and tears for a 25% of what you paid....On a side note, when everything does finally work in harmony, for me at least, Feeling 500+ ft/lbs. of torque w/ your creation puts a smile on my face more than any stock GTR would do.

No, not worth it. Instead of a nice reliable quick car I now have a car I've driven for less than two months out of the last year. Even during those times it wasn't running right.
I wish I had just dropped a stock motor back in it and sold it after it blew. I'd be cruising around in a brand new bimmer by now if I had done that.
My car hasn't costed me nearly what a GTR would, but I'd have a nice down payment on one if I had all my money back.

Here's another thought. I think most people who say they want a GT-R would mod that too.
I remember, back when I was riding around in an Xterra, I'd say to myself, "If I could only get a 350Z, that would be plenty fast." 18 months later, my car Forged getting boosted.
Same goes for a lot of people saying they want a GT-R I think. At first, the car will be plenty fast and new and exciting. But after a while, those people will get bored, and will start modifying their cars, and the cycle will have started again.

+1, then with all that money, you can have a Lambo
This **** is depressing. I've spent well over 13k on my Z so far and was planning on doing the short block soon. I really think I don't want to do it anymore. I've said many times in the few short months I've been FI, "I wish I'd bought a WS6 for 10k less and put half as much in it" I'd have 10k+ more in the bank and probably a faster more reliable car. I love my Z, but I love WS6's too. I may have a FS: thread coming up soon!
Edit: Not to mention my build experience wasn't that good. I'm STILL waiting for parts!

Honestly, I love my car, and I'm more or less happy with my car as it is now, but I'll want more eventually. I also know that I'll never be happy driving a stock car.

Because I am going to build, n its going to be able to support it. Im just trying to see peoples views from what they have experienced.
Im almost 30k into this car, (not including the car), and I am going to keep it for a long time.

Just because someone didn't have a good experience, doesn't mean you won't!!!

all your delays are fault of you using a build engine? or other decitions that you took on your build that have caused you to only have driven your car 2 months out of the past 12???
