I'm really trying to figure out what you mean by this (other than some form of the normal smack talk)? Perhaps it's better left unexplained. And yes, after weighing everything out I still believe the Greddy TT is the best deal out there for the average owner.

By the way, where is your car? I'd assume it would be done by now considering the ridiculous amount of money you've thrown into it.

lol, u'll have to wait and see, unlike you i didnt wanna create a thread untill i have something finished to show for , rather than a thread left unchanged, unexplained, etc etc etc.

I think your idea about value on greddy kits might change soon when you see the revised pricing they are coming out with....i dunno why they decided to do that

why did i say irony? anybody has but only look at your post before you started building your engine, and seeing you talk now. I hope you change your attitude once you get your car back and enjoy it again and hope not to see a Craig's part out sale thread.

As XKR said
What about those of us that have had a good experience with our build? What about those of us that buy stock FI cars from the factory that have been nothing but trouble?
One size does not fit all here....I could sit here and list all the Factory FI cars I have owned that have visited the dealer more times than I have taken my G to the gas station.

Anything done right the first time will yield better results than trying to cut corners.

You always hear a lot more from the people who have problems. We have put out countless built VQ cars that have never made a post here.

True. If they're bumping up the price of the Greddy kits for some reason, it might change my opinion. But, for now from a strictly value perspective on both stock and built motors, it's the best deal.

If you look at that long thread, it didn't even start as a "build thread", and I never intended for it to be as such. I posted it with the water line walkthrough per request of a friend, and people just latched on to the fact that I had blown my motor since the water install. So really, you can thank everyone on the forum for making it what it was.

I've never posted a build thread on these forums.

If the GReddy kit jumps up that high, I predict APS selling a LOT more tuner kits

If this is true, then the PowerLab kit has the most to gain I think.

Maybe after all is said and done it will be satisfying, but the experienced has ruined the Z for me. I just hope that at the time it's actually running properly a) it's still legal to drive it on the street in the state I live, and b) that I can afford gas to drive it.

I wouldn't recommend the venture to anyone I talk to as it's pretty much rolling the dice and I now don't perceive as the risk being worth the reward. That is all.
I agree with Craig on most everything. It's hard to "stay in love" with these cars when you are constantly breaking, fixing, spending money just to keep them running. We arent the only ones, look at guys like Luie, and other built guys who one day get so sick of it all they sell the car/parts.

Having a built set-up will make you reconsider how big of a car enthusiast you really are. Its not for the weak of heart or those with light wallets.

There are very few in this industry that care for truly providing an excelent product, and most tend to charge exuberant rates and fees because it is industry standard to rape the customer.

I'm not saying this about anyone in particular, so please don't try and read between the lines. I've seen it in many cases, both in personal experience and through the experience of others. This industry is an industry of crooks and con men. If you find someone that you can truly trust, stick with them because they are a rare commodity.

I'm tired of hearing about the Powerlab kit anyway, if I were to be buying a new kit i'd honestly buy a Greddy TT kit first.
OK. I see what you are saying but you have only been built for about a year now if that long. The point of this thread and I think what people have been referring to is if its worth it to build your car. I can only base what I am saying on when you went with your built motor which is the same time you decided to do a custom set up. If this thread were asking whether it was worth it to turbo your car then I would agree with you entirely cause everyone knows FI has a high percentage of being troublesome.

Check your PM.

Fair enough. But, I feel like there are plenty of people who haven't had any serious trouble at all and enjoyed their built setups. In conversations like these, you are bound to hear more in regards to bad experiences than positive ones.

There is no doubt people don't enjoy their set-ups when running 100% or even when they have issues. BUT-nuisance after nuisance will take a toll on you, and after a while you find yourself second guessing the decisions you have made, and after encountering problem after problem you will lose interest in the car/hobby and want to walk away from it, and thats WITH a good shop doing the work. My answer to "is it worth it?" Im on the fence, think about what that means! That means that in the 1 yr 4 months my 1st built set-up lasted me, and ALL of the good times/runs in my car I had (and it was a lot), they still only equal the pain in the a$$ problems, quirks here and there, issues here and there, and not to mention the $$$ lost that Iver had with my car before and even now. In the end, nobody says its not fun, but worth it? Hard to answer...

I have no issues with my built motor, but then again I only have 1k miles on it.
So for now its worth it Like one of the other threads said "YOU GOTTA PAY TO PLAY"

I think for alot of you guys the economy has alot to do with you're opinion of is it worth it, and rightfully so. Things don't look good for the economy especially with the 2 dip$hits running for President. Hang in there if you can..

Everytime I read threads of this nature I second guess things. I enjoy my car immensely though and I am not built motor. I definitely do not baby my car at all. It just depends on how I feel each day as to whether or not I regret or stay happy with my decision and more importantly the money spent.
