Just in case....IBTL

For Rory: As a TN single owner be prepared. The reflash is crap, any good tuner will say that he fears for the longevity of your engine - I got this one firsthand. You will also need: exhaust, gauges with sensors, heat wrap and then header tape your AC line, possibly larger injectors depending on how cold it gets in socal, possible fuel return and an EMS of your tuners choice with tune. You can just bolt the kit on with the reflash, but you might as well start the engine rebuild clock....tick, tick, tick. I bought my car with the TN kit installed w/reflash and have invested in all of the above items to make it more reliable long term. Had i spent more time on the forums prior to buying I would have bought a different Z or just installed twins from the start. Just my

If you havent bought your kit yet, make me an offer on mine so I can get my twins early.

so should i just say f*** it and get the power lap kit and an aam exhaust. the power lap is only 1500-2000 more than the tnetics and it comes with better stuff. whats the install on the power lap kit? any1 did this in cali yet??? i can get the tnetics installed for around a grand. and the power lap kit might cost over xxxx$ with a killer tune by the one and only sam. ill call gtm tomorrow and see what they can do for a tune. the end of august is when i am going to do it all if nothing major comes up before that. for the guys that have they kit do you like it or do you wish i went with something else?

The Turbonetics kit is fine if you play it safe.
I blew my motor running this kit after a professional install.
Depending on who you speak with keeping it below 7lbs (or around there) should be ok.

From what I've learned the twins are a better option for a non-built motor.
They are more efficient and make more power with less boost according to what I've read. Good luck.

twins are no safer on a stock block. boost is not safe on a stock block period. The only marginally safe FI on a stock block is SC

I wouldn't go single turbo period. Go twins if you are looking to spend 8k, like with the powerlab kit, and you won't have to change your exhaust to accommodate it. Do some searching and go to the meets, and get to know the guys that went to GTM. Do more research and don't just put yourself in the hands of a tuner and say "here is my budget, go wild".

You statement above is confusing me Law. Are you for the Powerlab kit or against it?

OP, it's Powerlab not Power lap

Is you want to go single the Powerlab kit is way more complete then the Turbonetics (Out of the box). Do your research on the forum, and make your own decision. Your gonna have to many outside influences with this type of thread, just my two cents.

single: more easy to diag problems and save lots of time comparing to twins, especially if you do it your self
twins: gotta do it once and do it right aka $$$

i like the pl kit but it does not come with the blanket or wrap. i think gtm has a better ac line if i go tnetics. and for sc thats like well a sc i need a turbo. i might as well go with the tn kit and have gtm install and tune it and i hope it will last for a few years. i will bug those guys tomorrow. thanks for your help every1 ill give you all an update tomorrow on what i want. i cant drive till my doctor clears me with the dmv so i will bug him to..

who has the highest mileage on a tn kit w/ stock block? i do not bash my car so i think i can make it last for a few years. peace and good night to all.

If you are comparing the Powerlab kit and the Turbonetics kit, and you are choosing the Turbonetics setup because of a Turbo Blanket and/or Heat wrap i think your nit picking. Something as simple as heat wrap can be added for a few dollars to any setup. That's just my observation.

Good Luck with your build. GTM will definitely take care of you no matter what setup you choose.

STOCK block with the TN kit on the REFLASH only no issues and used to be daily driven 45 miles each way to work. There is quite a few of us on the reflash alone and with no issues also. I don't drive her daily anymore not because of the kit but because I use a Scion for a daily and get better gas mileage. If you do get the kit I recommend GTM for the install as they know what they are doing with the install and are familiar with the kit. The only thing that sucks about all this is the fact that WE only have crappy *** 91 octane in this sh1tty *** state.

400whp @ 5-6psi = PowerLab
400whp @ 10psi = Turbonetics

Which would you rather have?

If I could build a time machine and go back in time I would by something other than the TN kit. I wish I spent 1500 more and got Twins.
