Seems every new piggyback that came out has gotten good hype to begin with , but a year or so down the road the truth about it comes out . Nothing new about this one niether . My tuner said it was better than the E-manage , but still not that good

Because it is not a Standalone.... Have you compared the price of it to a standalone?

OP.. Ask him what is his suggestion. I'm pretty sure he'll say Fcon if he's a dealer...lol

As a matter of fact, Utec saved my Engine when I had a case of Bad Gas.. I went to Exon and all of a sudden I'm knocking crazy at any boost. Good thing utec was pulling timing when it happened.

I am not a fan of the UTEC, everyone knows that, but to say the UTEC is destroying engines is like saying that guns are killing people.

Sorry, just because you don't like a units interface/way it works doesn't justify saying it destroys engines, they work well in low boost or N/A applications.

P.S. I still don't like UTECs

yeah about a $4-500 difference without the harness. I personally would feel alot safer with a good standalone that is tuned to perfection than a piggback that could fail for a number of reason.. Honestly i don't know much if anything about tunning but everyone has always pointed me to the fcon and friends i ride with use microtech and haltech..

Ok, show me a bill of an FCON Vpro installed/tuned for $1700. Utec can be installed tuned for around $1400. Oh, Utec has an active knock control so you may want to add the HKS Knock Amp on that price. I'll be the first one in line for a full standalone installed/tuned for under $2000. Even Haltech cost $2000+ alone just for the unit.

Edit: Most HKS dealer charge around $3000 for the VPro installed and Tuned and that is without the Knock Amp...

Utec Blowing up motors

I been running APS TT with the Utec for 1.5 yrs and car is still running strong.

As a matter of fact I tried jumping into a Standalone(Lets just say it was one of those that are locked to a tuner/dealer) and it was a total nightmare for 5 months, It was so bad that I have gone back to a Utec.

As far as Sound Performance(Spracing) they are a PROEFI dealer and probably rather just deal with that EMS than any other.

I remember VTR said that they have a box full of Utec coz it is garbage, so I ask what do you recommend for replacement. The answer is Reflash and SS box... lol

This is just how it goes I guess. 6 months ago everyone said to go with a Utec, that's part of the reason I went with one. I think my car runs just fine with it but I am supercharged so I guess that is easier to tune. I think the Utec is the best bang for the buck for sure. I'm sure a good tuner could make a car run better with an e-manage over a Haltech tuned by someone who is inexperienced. So with a good tuner and 450 or less whp a Utech is fine.
