Also if you have a return system , the big red FPR on the firewall is also dead give away. In general these days , if you're asked to pop your hood you're 90% busted already.

Wow Tim!! Sorry to hear about your troubles.
As for other states beyond California, UPREV is absolutely right. No one is immune from this idiocy. It's just a matter of time until the Global Warming Religious Zealots in other states adopt California's Gestapo tactics.
BTW, whatever happened to the concept of "Probable Cause"? If I have a body kit does it automatically infer that I'm not C.A.R.B. compliant?

I wouldn't trade living in San Diego for anything. The homo comments are real mature - congrats..
Polution control is/was needed. LA in the late 70's and 80's had terrible air quality. Geography was a major reason, but knocking down mountains isn't cost effective..
Now cops doing this for revenue generation versus air quality make me sick. I had a couple small challenges getting my Z registered here including a cop being a jackass to my wife.

^^^ Yup, wouldn't trade living in San Diego (or SoCal for that matter) for anything else in the world.
I drive my car year around...no salt, barely any humidity, no real winter. No such thing as summer/winter tires...we just have tires.
Minutes from the pacific ocean, borders another country...a couple hours from the one of the biggest concrete jungles (LA). Snow is a drive up a mountain. Las Vegas is a few hours away. People on average are fit with a nice tan, yet the food here is rich and diverse. As much as we complain, I think it's worth the risk of being pulled over for a modified car. Move? Hell no.
Do we still envy other states? Sometimes...yes but we pay to live here so not really.
With that said, I have yet to have a cop ask me to pop the hood on my pathetic little stock motor. I would put my arms below my waist in an "X" formation and be like...
"Booyah! Stock!"
Soon to change though.

i have a integra and i get pulled over all the time for nothing. its usually the same cops. i was hoping that getting a z would have got me out of that category with the cops.
i just need to move.
