I just recieved a cipher yesterday in order to help me diagnose the issues i have been having. I hooked it up and these are the 2 codes i am getting.
P1610
Lock mode, unregistered key used 5 times, BCM or ECM is malfunctioning
P1614
Chain of IMMU-KEY, BCM cannot recieve the key ID signal.
SOOOO is my ecu fubarded or do i just need to have my key reprogramed?
Here is a link to my thread discussing the issue i am having

the bcm is not the ecu.
someone is f'n with ya by puttin their key in your ignition and removing it 5 times fast.
can u even start the car now?
i dont think that the car needs continous signal from the key to keep running, but if it does, maybe the bcm is telling the car to turn off bc wrong key code
dunno

at this point I would not read too much into these codes, they may have been stored from the time it was in the shop being worked on and the battery disconnected and other Z's keys used by mistake.........
Just clear them and start from scratch to see what comes up, then you will know what you are dealing with and if these come back.

I just cleared the codes and i am consistantly getting the P1614. I can't get that code to clear. When the car starts acting up i get both codes again (P1610 AND P1614).
I just did a log but i didn't log some of the features i wanted to so i am going to let the car cool down and try to do another one.

hmmm sounds like maybe something got fubared at the shop and just started to show up when you got home
some codes get stored but don't trigger any issues until a set number of times so maybe that is what happened, it sounds like maybe the BCM got damaged or wiring got cut

When I have a problem and can't figure it out, I look at everything possible. Maybe the key issue can't be a problem because of the way the FCon controls everything, but it can't hurt to look the errors up in the Service Manual. Unfortunately I only have a G35 Coupe Service Manual, but the codes are almost always the same. When I look up your codes it seems that both of them are referred to as a NATS Malfunction.

The EC-45 above link refers to this page.

The BL-115 link refers to this page. It looks like there are some fuses and a NATS antenna involved. It might be worth a look at these fuses? Maybe a wire leading to the NATS Antenna got bumped?

Just trying to help out here. Maybe someone with the correct year 350z Service manual can make sure this information is the same for a Z. I suspect it is, but don't know for sure.
Hope this helps.

I don't think a battery drain can cause the ECU to forget the key IDs.
I would check the fuses by looking at the FSM for your car - look up the similar page in the service manual. I think you can find the manuals for free on this site or via google.
EDIT: ok, I just read the manual for my car (an 04.5 G coupe). You're going to need the specific manual for your car. It could still be a single wire issue based on what I skimmed (such as a poor ground or a COM line b/w ECM and BCM).

Did you log the throttle position sensor? If the VIS is disabling the throttle because of a blown fuse or bad ground, then maybe it's shutting down the throttle. With the FCON, it's the only thing the stock ECU has left to control.
I always wondered if putting in a standalone made it easier to steal the car, but was afraid to ask on a public forum. (I disclose that here because what are the chances a would-be thief would be reading this thread? lol)
