Airfare is pretty cheap at this time...If it were me and I have called 5 or more times and no answer....I would go there in person and check things out and speak to Mark. Hurricane Ike is in the past...that excuse has been over used at this point.

Like I have said before...Mark is a nice guy...I have not had any problems with him...

Here is what I will do for you on here that live out of town and car has been there for a long time...and has problems getting info on their car...

Email me a letter with your VIN number...Model car....License Plate number...

State in the letter that you are giving me permission to get info on your car and also permission to take pic's of the work so far.

just PM me and I will give email address.

That's a helluva way to run a business.

Hope that was short enough.
^ That pretty much sums it all up in a very fair and unbiased way.

Thanks for the summary!

Geez, this is def a rough period in our collective histories. Mark has, from my understanding, been a pillar of the Fairlady community for over a decade now. I've spoken with him and done business with him on a number of occasions and hope that all parties involved get quick, swift resolution. I will be calling Mark tomorrow to check on the status of a VQ built auto trans that we ordered some time back, and will try to have a "heart-to-heart" with Mark (from one industry fella to another). I know that Mark is good friends with some long-time OG's in this industry, like Troy from XS and Jon K from HKS, and my sincere hopes and prayers go out to Mark if he's in trouble. Of course the same goes double for the customers whose frustrations are voiced here too!

Hey yall. Well, we went to SGP on Tuesday. To be honest, Mark needs a break. He's working ridiculously hard, and if I can give Mark a break, anyone on here can. Most of the cars there are finished, and just haven't been paid for. Mark only has 2 guys working for him and alot of cars to do. Many business and personal issues have honestly hindered him. And while I was there, the phones were ringing off the hook. However, only mark and his 2 people were there, all working. There was no time to answer. And as much as the phones rang, if he answered, no work would be done. He had to make a choice, answer or get work done, and being there, i think he made the right choice. Yes communication could be better but being there i can't hold it against him. All of our parts are there like he said they were and I saw that lots of work was getting accomplished on many cars. So, i think anyone who has the chance should drop by and see whats up rather than getting the wrong idea. I wish we wouldn't have had to make the trip, but it did ease our minds. Mark's been a great person in the Z community for years, and I think once SGP gets straightened up, it will surpass what it is expected to be. I support the employees of sgp, and SGP Racing in general. Read my previous post, i haven't talked any $h!t at all, so read carefully and don't get the wrong idea. I only speak the truth. Well that's what i found. BTW the GTR definitely isn't mark's... but it's nice, and he's made some progress : ]

Tell him to at least give us some updates himself on a thread and most would feel at least slightly better about what's going on.

Mark has an account here, SGP_Racing, but he hasn't been online on my350z since April.

https://my350z.com/forum/members/74597-sgp_racing.html

I don't understand why Mark can't take an hour or two of his time afterhours, even just once a week, to return voicemails and get on my350z to respond to customers. When I met Mark a couple years ago, he made it clear that he doesn't care about the forums. However, as a shop owner in this VQ community, it's his responsibility of running a business to keep in touch with his customers and the forums are an effective way of doing this.

Intense is having trouble reaching him to give him their new address so SGP can ship my transmission back to them. Even if Mark is too busy during business hours to answer phone calls, he could easily shoot Intense/Darren a PM here after hours. This ongoing communication problem with SGP is unacceptable and there is no satisfactory excuse for it.

+1 performing the work is only part of running a successful business,if you can't communicate with your client's you are doomed.i have a feeling that if this business model continues they will have plenty of time to call people back in the near future.a good shop is judged by the whole experience not just how they turn a wrench, and is essential to repeat business and reference's.one lesson to learn is....as soon as your ego lets you believe you are irreplaceable, you will be replaced.let's hope they figure this out before they become a julian(munson).
