Default Intercooler Efficiency...for those that were wondering.

I am wrapping up the tuning on XKR's car, and we installed one of the GTM intercooler temperature probe kits. This is one very slick piece. Comes with two probes, mil spec wiring, and the display.

During dyno tuning, I am seeing 79F temperature DROPS across the intercooler core....all while the car is standing still. Inlet temps to the intercooler were hovering around 160F, and intercooler outlet temps were right at 81F. Ambient temps are 70F today.

We are running a JWT 850bb custom TT setup, and a Greddy intercooler core. This GTM intercooler temp gauge is pretty neat...displays the before, after, or difference of temps. Shocking that some people still run turbochargers without intercoolers.

The gauges are molded into the area in front of the shifter...not the AC controls. Also, this is a G35....just an FYI.

It doesn't show efficiency as much has it shows what condition your heat exchanger is in. Cool device.

I have the same gauge in my car, at times I see 60+ degrees difference at temps...So I know my IC work really well.

I think the FCON has an air temp sensor in the manifold so XKR can see the temps from pre-IC, post-IC, and at the manifold. That said, I think you could install the air sensors from this device just about anywhere you wanted to.

of course it does. Only 1 company makes them, Davtron. Everyone buy them from Davtron and rebadges them and puts on the industry standard 75-100% markup.

I think it is a bit more then that... Davtron does not seem to offer a dual probe input temp gauge that you can toggle between or show temp difference. They do have an OAT gauge, but the toggle is used to select between degrees F or C:

http://www.davtron.com/m307.html

So it would seem GTM, SP, etc, have davtron custom make this gauge for them - but that doesn't mean you can buy an original davtron branded model that does the same thing.

Believe me, I have looked for the generic version because I think the price is absolutely ridiculous. If you know of a davtron version that has the same features as the ones for automotive use, please share the model number.
