The above information is correct, but some haven't had very good luck with them

Mine took a crap as well I ended up going with a Turbowerks Exa pump. It's overkill for my application but it will have other uses down the road with my intentions for the car.

Here's the standard electric pump.

Here's the Exa pump I'll be using.

We are one of the largest distributors for the Exa pump, it's a GREAT product, we use it with all of our Z/G twin turbo kits including our 1000+hp 350z

I have 2 in stock right now. let me know if you are interested.

DAMN! I didn't even think about it! I wish I would have known, your price is WAY cheaper and I would have much rather purchased from you guys at SP. I just got mine last week direct from them.

Haven't installed it yet... should be this week, is it loud? Just curious.

No worries at all, wish we could have helped you out.
The pump is very quiet, the rubber bushings help greatly, but best bet is to mount it to something like the transmission to avoid any noise in the cabin. Even on the chassis it wasn't noticable. Btw, best of luck on your project too.

I thought that I read somewhere about a belt driven sump pump. I can't remember, but that would be the best way to go. I would like to have my pump work with the oil pressure supplied to the turbo. I am woking on an electrical/electronic setup so that when my oil pressure goes up so does the motor speed that runs the scavenge pump. That is, unless I find a belt driven suitable setup.

Whats your basis for the belt driven being a better solution? Just curious. I haven't heard of this.

Well, with a belt driven pump you have the advantage of variable speed. As the engines RPMs go up so does the fuel pressure, at the same time the belt diven pump RPM's also increase. I think it would also be more reliable.

With an electric pump, it's either on or off. STS uses a hobbes 1psi pressure switch to kick the pump in to "high gear" but that doesn't make sense. Boost and oil pressure are not related. You can be on the highway cruising and the oil pressure would be up there in the 60 psi range. The hobbes pressure swtich would not activate the pump at this point because the engine is drawing vacuum. I know that these small DC motors are durable but it's something I would like to eliminate if possible.

It is possible to have a two speed cuircuit that is activated with a regular oil pressure switch and a relay. So when the engine oil pressure goes up to say 50psi the pressure switch would trigger a secondary relay that would supply more power to the motor, and therefore switching it to high speed.

Something like this would be ideal:

It is a dry sump pump, and I could easly make a bracket and have it run off of the accessory belts.

i went with the exa b/c of whats it's tested to and I don't necessarily "cruise" in my car and enjoy tracking it as well. The fabrication is minimal to the APS supplied bracket and we're actually going to strap it similar to the way the weldon was done. Other than that you need some fittings.
