Default Blown Head Gasket after Procharger install

I had a Procharger installed with the 7lb pulley and blew the Head Gasket after 1 week!!! My car has high mileage. (100,000)

What route would you take with a $5,000 budget?

1. Replace with HKS Head Gasket and use Studs?
2. Buy a low mileage motor to swap with?
3. Buy a built Short Block from Import Parts Pro for $2,600 plus Head Gasket and Studs? total $3,400 plus labor?

I would like to spend less if I can, but dont want to back in the same situation again. What would you do?

How many miles did you drive/run it with blown HG?

Was it overheating?

How did you figure out the HG was blown?

Did the car have oil consumption before the Charger?

Most importantly... what caused the problem?

Just have to ask because these motors are pretty stout. The bottom end is probably fine. I would not replace it at 100k mi. unless you were having problems before the boost.

i know for hondas they have lower compression headgaskets. do they make anything of the sort for z's? ive never come across any. but from what i know, our stock hg's are pretty badass, but while its out, might as well get an hks or cometic.

Does this look like a damn honda?!?!?!?!

Nothin will ever match up if you get thicker headgasket.

I am sorry this had to be your first post.

Lemme guess....no engine management other than the crap that procharger includes (fuel only). In addition to fixing things, you also need a much better EMS and fuel solution, IMHO, or else this will happen again.

Let us know if we can help.

There must have been some minor motor issues before the install for this to happen. I would reccomend and EMU or UTEC after the headgasket is replaced. I have heard good things about the Cosworth headgaskets. Also, under such a small amount of boost, I see no reason for ARP head studs. Even on 13psi the oem VQ35 head studs are strong enough. Good luck!

+1 ...

1. Used UTEC: $600
2. 600cc Injectors: $300-$550 (used / new)
3. Walbro Fuel Pump: $100
4. Basic Fuel Return: $500
5. OEM Head Gaskets: $75 (plus labor - unless you DIY)
6. Tune: $600
7. ???
8. PROFIT!

Think of this like getting a humble opinion from the Pope if you are Catholic.

Good advice right here.

Cheapest I would go with head gasket studs and EMU/EMS...

If it was me in this position...I would go with new short block and EMS/ injectors because the motor you have now has high milage and because its boosted and stock will soon come up with more issues
