Default Knock Amp Owners Chime in (seeing something weird)

I am seeing knock while cruising at around 2k-3k rpm. I was driving back from Forged yesterday (cruising at 80mph) and i happen to look down at the knock amp and i was seeing the "WARNING" message light up on the screen. The only thing i can think of is maybe i got a bad batch of gas. Maybe the knock sensitivity is set too high? The afr values look fine and nothing weird is happening. Also Sharif reviewed the tune when the car was there and said all the timming values looked good (nothing out of the ordinary). I did some light boost runs and there was 0 knock. Is it possible to get damaging knock at these low rpm levels?

Note i have a built motor w/ aggressive JWT C8R cams and valve springs. Also i have solid motor mounts so there is alot of engine noise going on

Go through the knock amp setting procedure in the manual. It starts on pg. 23.

already did. All that tells you is how to set it up. Mine was already set up by forged.

Chris.....That happened to me once....Sometimes it would not read anything. Sharif told me to turn the key in the on position until the beeping sounds stops...then start the car...never happened after that.

Just once....I use to jump in the car... turn the keep and go. Sometimes the Knock would not display anything and one it displayed knock.....But after I did it Sharif's way...it never happened again....Just like a computer...you sometimes have to reboot.

I would not rule out bad gas also.....Just try what Sharif told me to do and see what happens.....keep me updated.

How is the car running??

no doubt man! Thanks for the heads up!!

I was just hoping it wasn't another problem. I have had a saga of ordeals w/ this car lately. Finally i think i have everything corrected. I am going to take it for a drive today

curious but are people's tunes sensitive to 1 or 2 point changes in octane at cruising speeds? (ie 'bad' gas wouldnt be worse than 89 octane)
I sure hope NOT!!!!!!

Doubtful. I think it may be the sensitivity level that the knock amp is set to. It is showing knock events when cruising at 2k rpm at 40mph and sometimes when delcelerating to stop at a stop light. It happens at very preculiar times to say the least.

The gas i put in was Cheveron Supreme so it wasn't like i bought it from a mom and pop shop

true knock at low load doesn't seem likely... you can get knock at low rpms, but at what MAP level? if it's under vacuum, I doubt it's true - maybe just a computer glitch?

it has to be a glitch. Occurs at vaccum. I also caught it once when i did a boosted run and after i left off the throttle it showed a slight knock

It is still doing it, although at a much smaller rate. Every so often while crusing i will see a value of anywhere from 7-23 for knock. I am still not sure what these #'s indicate. To my knowledge it isn't necessarily a knock "count".

Did you try turning the key to the on position and waiting for the beeping to stop before starting it ??

Hey Chris, call me again when you have some time. It's just matter of adjusting the knock sensitivity on the Knock Amp. It's not real knock. I have seen this happen, even at idle and just free reving the car. Some engines/cams/motor mounts are noiser than others, so the knock amp is probably picking some of that up.
