I don't use any waxes, it's kinda like high polish wheels. The more they are exposed to the elements the more tarnished they can get. A decent cleaning every once in a while should be enough, unless you plan on driving it in the rain with open hood vents. Even then, it's just water spots which are not much of an issue.

You might want to tap and thread the hanger so that you can use a screw or bolt to secure the Walbros in a little tighter. That should reduce the noise. Here is a drawing showing approximately where I would put the screw or bolt for each Walbro.

After looking at this a little more, move the screw/bolt holes down onto the flat portions of the lower hangar. Drilling them will be easier and it will provide a little more clearance this way.

Probably needless to say, but I will anyway, use short screws/bolts and don't over tighten them. You don't want to damage the Walbros!

FYI, if you need another Walbro pump, let me know. I still have 2 extras that I bought with the hangar. I'll cut you a good deal. Note that these fit the SPR tripple pump hangar, but not the stock factory swirl tank. The connector is in a different location. That said, the Walbro's that do fit the factory swirl tank also will work with the hangar.

I was just going to let this go by quietly, but since you ask, I will respond. Yes, everything is at F:T now and assembly should begin Monday. I delivered all the parts out of my shed on Thursday and then took off work Friday to bring down the trans, driveshaft and drove to Justice in VA to pick up the assembled short block to drop it all off at F:T, appx 12 hours of driving over the past 2 days and 2 tanks of gas .

As long as Dave and Frank have all the assorted gaskets and such that they may need, things should progress smoothly over the next week. I have stressed to both of them to please be uber careful to not scratch the newly painted engine bay. Depending on the break-in schedule, I may have the car back next week or the week after.

It was slightly painful driving south on I-81 and seeing a constant parade of corvettes headed north to the Corvettes at Carlisle event in PA. Seemed like every old white guy with a ZR1 was headed north. Sooooo many potential beatdowns to be given there

A couple of pics from the past few days:

My truck was packed solid with parts, the stuff in towels and sheets is powdercoated or painted stuff.

The new system at F:T, builds are put on racks that follow the cars around the shop.

Fram left to right, Karim's G on the lift (I think, the owner is under the car, but I didn't have a chance to meet him), Ahn's car waiting on parts, mystery Z (silver) and my big blue paperweight. Tuna loves my car cause it smells like bagels .

My navigator for day one of parts delivery, he loves Tuna and can't wait for the blue car to come home. A future modder..... for sure .

OK, I waasn't going to post till the car was done, but I'm all drunk and had one of my Corvette friends chirping at me all evening, so here is an update....

The polished cover IMO is meh at best, I really miss my blue powdercoated cover, oilers and valve covers, but if this motor runs I should be happy

A pic of my monster on the lift yet again.... this is how I think of my car
My Build: The Good, The Bad & The Progress-p9030326.jpg

Parts waiting to go back on, but unforseen delays, the build was delayed a bit, no car for Labor Day weekend, but Frank and Dave are doing good work and the end result should be worth the extra wait.
