I finally found the grounding cable to the AC and alternator in my boxes of fail today and was able to finish off the wire tuck (or my very novice version of one). I drilled a hole down through the metal by the battery tray and popped the cable out through the small cutout piece (the one closest to the firewall) in the engine compartment. Its too hot for pics today.

I also mounted the power steering reservoir bracket that just came back from paint. It looks nice, but I should have had the gold pieces on the rubber washers painted as well. I guess that will wait for the winter.

My day started with a drive down to Hill's Garage to drop off the components to the fuel system and dual pump. Frank will get everything mocked up and then I will have the car dropped there for a day or two before it heads to F:T for the motor install.

I got to meet a new Mid-A member while I was there, Rae-Z (sp?). Rae was getting his first mods done and seems like a very cool guy. He's a friend of Barnabas, so its just a matter of time till he starts modding hard .

If all goes well I should be 2-3 weeks away from completion .

I had the painter stop back for a few touch ups, so a friend came by to help me tape stuff off again:

I had three small blemishes in the original paint job that I wanted to be fixed:

Small things, but details are important and it was causing my OCD to go crazy having to keep looking at it.

It was much more work than expected to get the areas taped off, but I wanted to make sure it was done right.

Some pics of the finished valve covers inside and out.

I will get some after pics of the touch ups, but I'm too lazy to go to the garage right now.

Cool.... always looking forward to having some win!!

I picked up the turbos from Blouch - they look the same as the last 2 pairs, so no pics.

Heads should be shipping today from HeadGames - Dave promised me moar pics... still waiting bro... put down the beers and pick up the camera for a second

Things are moving along at Justice on the shortblock and I will get the wheels back on the car this weekend and prep it for travel. I got some disappointing news on the AAA towing front. It turns out that they will not tow a car with the motor missing, even if you have the premium membership - FAIL!!! - there goes another $400 in towing fees (thats $1200 in towing so far on my build for those of you that are keeping score).

I did the u-haul once and it was a complete PITA and only $100 cheaper than towing. Need at least 2 peeps to get the car up on the trailer with no motor and then have to crawl out over the rear strut since it sits so much lower now and I can't open the doors once its on the trailer. I'm not that small or nimble anymore . Last time I did it Frank was laughing at me the whole time and Suzanne threatened to start taking pics.

Chris, why do they need to open the hood to tow the car Just call up and say you need a tow that the car is not running and you need to get it to your shop. The tow driver wouldn't say anything about not having a motor in the car.

hahahahha! Good point!!!

or you can always say the car got involved in an accident and the motor flew away.

- I considered this. What ever happened to the old "write it up to AAA and here's a six pack and $20 to ignore the motor"??? It seems that fewer and fewer shops are using AAA these days. Stupid OnStar
