I got another piece back from the powder coater when the brakes came back, its a coolant pipe on the passenger side of the motor. I'm just grabbing parts off and sending them now, who knows what it will look like when it comes together.

I got a few toys in yesterday and want to share. I decided I wanted to lower the stance of my Z just a bit and be able to take advantage of some of the great backroads in the Mid-A region, but still keep the car comfortable enough for a cruise and it has to pass the wife test.

I found these items in the classifieds and both sellers were great guys and very easy and honest to work with.

Thanks again for the info, I decided to not risk a heilicoil repair and purchased a used single rear caliper for $250.

I also heard from Nic at CiNcity Designs today and my lights are next on his list . He was very polite and professional and wanted to confirm that I was aware of the minor imperfections in my headlight covers before he started my mods. I am very excited to see the finished product.

Anyone know anything about an EMS called Vi-PEC???

Also, my APS 3" true duals showed up today - thanks Turismo!! Pics coming soon - its currently 5 below zero outside, but the box come with a huge hole in it (just like the Stillen box) and I want to make sure the canisters aren't damaged - $925 shipped

Thanks for all the positive feedback on the build guys (and Gothchick). I must say that its such an up and down process - I feel excited on days when the new parts arrive, but they are few and far between, especially in relation to the days when money just goes out and the car just sits and does nothing .

I honestly don't know how anyone could concentrate on a full time job and do a build like this at the same time. I spend so much time running around to drop off or pick up parts, sourcing parts on the forum or from vendors, trying to find answers to questions or problems and packing and shipping things that I basically have stopped working for the past month. I don't think it has been said enough how difficult this process can be, unless you have an unlimited budget and your builder can be paid to do every little thing for you.

Money is a separte issue, I often feel foolish spending so much in a slumping economy. The recession has finally caught up with my area and my restaurants are the slowest they have ever been and its really kind of scary since my paycheck is dependant on staying busy. Here is a pic of two of my places:



Anyway, I guess I'm in the home strech now, so I am going to try and not concentrate on the $$$$ going out and look forward to the final result. I am trying to make a final decision on an EMS and have it narrowed down to one that is tried and true (Haltech) and one that is an unknown but has a lot of potential (Vi-PEC). The Vi-PEC is basically an upgraded version of the Autronic - in my very basic understanding.

I hope you guys are right. At this point anything faster than my Landcruiser would probably give me a rush. I put my car up on jackstands on Thanksgiving day - I can't even remember what the Z feels like.

Looked at the ViPEC user manual. Not too shabby, but doesn't seem to have the same level of integration as the Haltech does (CAN bus for example). No vehicle specific harness that I could find. If you do get the ViPEC, be wary about getting the lower end model which has only 4 injector drivers and 4 ignition outputs (called, aptly, the V44) - though they claim it is functional for up to 12 cylinder applications. The V88 allows the extra drivers to be used for all sorts of things, such as METH injection etc., which would be very nice to all consolidate. Couldn't see anything on the s/w. Thanks for the heads up on the new unit - always interesting to see what's being developed.

I am the guy that posted the link about the Autronic timing issues. Vi-Pec was created by Ray Hall from Austrailia he was heavily involved with Autronic.
in your situation with doing a big build it might be tricky to use a unproven EMS if any issues arise there will be questions of what the cause is EMS or other little gremlins.
