Mine is set up similar to his, but without the tee going into the plenum with the check valves. It goes straight to the turbo intake pipe and works perfectly.

ok so you blocked off the plenum port then it sounds like. meaning, (in stock form) the pvc feeds to the plenum port. that one. correct?

Tom, that looks awesome! Work of art!

Chris, with that set up I would get soot on start up - two streaks behind the car. No smoking though. I don't know why but it doesn't happen anymore with my current setup. Perhaps because there is no crankcase ventilation on start up or shut down since no strong vacuum hook up at idle.

Dean, that diagram is a set up is what I found works well after experimenting with many different configurations. I don't know if it's the best way for everybody, but it's worked out well for me.

i cant believe this thread is still goin on... LOL something this simple shouldnt need 245 posts.

Toms is setup exactly like Chris@fsp, except he has both valve covers going to the catch can.. Thats as simple as it gets. No reason to do anything more complicated.

Hmm. I haven't noticed any soot or anything upon startup, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. I will try to check the next time I start her up.

I finally got around to changing my catch can set up. i took some pictures for you all just for the hell of it. I had a HUGE smoking problem after ANY pulls. noticed an immediate fix for the problem with doing it this way. sounds weird but the car runs smoother than before. the blue cylinders are one way valves. i drilled the PCV also.

I wouldn't have used an fittings but it was given to me from a friend who no longer needed them. Probably would have cost 250+ had i bought it all.

Chris, as I remember, your car is stock engine? right?

Tom, you have the both valve covers going to the catch can, where are you getting your vacuum from?

update.

i sucked a TON of oil into my catch can within a day. it worked at stopping my massive smoking problem after a long WOT pull but now im overfilling my catch can fast. im going to try plugging the manifold vacuum source and intake pipe source and see what happens. so essentially i'll have a drilled pcv and it running to the catch can and a breather on the other port of the catch can. thoughts?

Put a breather on the driver's side rear port and your oil collection will reduce by an order of magnitude. The vacuum set up you have will preferentially pull in fresh air vs heavy oil saturated vapors. I think this is preferable to just having open breathers with no vacuum, but that works also.

Mine is just vented to atmosphere (2 breathers).

We're guessing on mine that most of my smoking was fixed by putting the vent off the sump tank to the catch can more than the from the valve covers. Before mine would just build up oil pressure in that tank after the turbos...when you let off the oil pressure was still there and pushed oil back through the turbos (gotta go somewhere) and caused the smoking. Now its all clean, no smoke what-so ever.

Ok. Ill vent the driver side rear port and see if that helps. I still have the vacuum line running from that port to the turbo inlet as well. So ill unplug it and let it breathe and see if that helps it. If not, ill change to a breathed on the pcv valve.

update: i tried venting the drivers side rear port to atmosphere (previously it was still connected to the turbo inlet tube) and im still filling oil into my catch can way too fast. so now im going to try plugging the manifold and removing the suction from my intake pipe. so essentially it'll just be a drilled and vented pcv and breather on the rear drivers side port. lets see if this does the trick.....

Just curious if you had the breather right on the driver's side port or if you just attached it to the end of the hose? (when u were still sucking up oil)
