not all people, but many are quick to say just use a pre fabbed kit instead and you must pay 10K to have a good turbo kit.
I built a custom turbo kit for my NA MR2, which was absurd from most owners views, but when I was finished I had a 210 whp car that was way faster than any other stock turbo mr2 at a fraction of the cost. Most would say just swap it or just do this, and end game my results suited my build which was auto-x car.

Boostedprobe: Awesome! I'm glad you decided to pull through with it! Very nice fitment so far, keep it up, dont rush. I'm going to truly enjoy seeing your build. Just remember like other have said, dont flake like some others have done on this site

TrackPack, what happened to your build?
Day 2
Didn't get as much done as I had hoped but that is ok. The stuff that I did get done looks good, and fits really well. Some pics:
Started off with this:

A bit of cutting and it fits just fine:

Looks good, does it fit?

Ofcourse it does:

If you look at the last pic, my turbo intake piping will be routed where the passenger side cat used to be. There is a ton of room for a nice 3" turbo intake, and 2.5" tubing going to the FMIC.
I'll see how next week shapes up. It's suposed to be really cold, about -35 deg C so it's perfect weather for the garage. And now it's hockey time. Go Oilers.

Ooooo I smell a heated garage, lucky guy, I hate working in the cold.
looks great so far, at first I couldnt really picture it but now its clear as day, I love it. I would totally take this rout with a smaller turbo car, I actually considered a aps type build but the turbo wouldnt fit....
As far as my build goes, it will be tuned in the spring, its been stored with lack of motivation at the moment, I've been swamped this year with others cars. Tuned the first ethanol car in winnipeg, made 700whp. I really like that fuel, too bad we have to get it from north Dakota..... anyways looks good man.
I love how easy the down pipe will be! Will you run stock exhaust for now?

Yes heated garage. 75,000 BTU forced air furnace. The garage (and house) are new and well insulated so it's nice to work in. I even upgraded the overhead door to the highest R rating. Got to have it in Alberta. I was going to do the APS as well, but the compressor on the 60-1 is way too big. I don't like the crossover pipe obove the transmision with the APS kit either. I'm picky I guess. There is more room behind the transmision, believe it or not.
Yes the downpipe will be very easy, it will be a 45 deg bend with flanges welded on each end, and that's all. I think I'll leave the stock exhaust for now, maybe upgrade down the road.

Well, today I left work early because I was feeling like s...it, got the flu. I work at a food research facility so it's not a good idea to be sick around food. Came home thinking I'll hit the bed because I felt exhausted.
So I go to the garage just to have a look at some stuff, and next thing you know it's 9:00pm. This stuff is addicting for me. The good thing is that I had some great help:
Doing some pipe fitting:

AND
Trasmision work, clutch maybe?

Got the down pipe done today. Stupid thing took me forever, just couldn't get my brain to turn on:

Money shot:

As it sits now:

As you can see in the last pic I put a stainless flex pipe just before the two pipes come together from each header. I'll add a two bolt flange before the flex pipe and I should probably do the same on the other side. The passenger side is a bit tight on vertical room, so maybe I'll get a V-band for that side.
It's comming together really well, I just have to stay a few steps ahead when planning things so I don't have fitment issues with the intercooler piping.
By the way, thanks for the support guys I will finish this. Like I said before, to me, this is an addiction. I just love the fact that I don't have to do any crap under the hood (except intake pipe). I look at some of the other kits out there and it's just crazy, everything has to be heat wraped, a/c lines moved, cut this cut that, too much IC piping under the hood... bla bla bla. That is really why I thought I can make a better kit.

Loving the build so far but im still worried you may hit the turbo on speed bumps or debris in the road??
Also what are you going to use for a waste gate?? And where is it going??
Keep it up man love it.....

This looks great so far nice work, I would say I have some concerns with ground clearance and small animals. Is your car lowered, may think about making a protective skid plate/shield.
He stated he was using a tial 38mm external wg, i would assume he'd put it just downstream.

I'll put something under the turbo for sure. Like I said before, the turbo does not hand lower than other stock components, but it will be reasuring once the plate/guard goes on.
The w/g (tial 38mm) will be on the pipe just before it enters the turbine, again plenty of room for it. I just have to decide if I'll vent it or go back to the down pipe. This is my first turbo experience ever so I'm learing as I'm fabricating.
