Default engine rebuild, over 600hp. share ur experience/knowledge

hi
we will be rebuilding an engine with forged internals. ie: pistons.020over, rods n everything. getting it ready for more boost.

since the goal is 600+hp. things for sure need to be well done.

i have very little to no experience with these engines especifically. but the experience with remanufacturing engines is there.

this thread is to check or see if u can share some knowledge specificaly for this engine.... what are weak links in the engine, tips, or stuff needed to know when rebuilding (i dont want to see the rebuild like your normal stock hp engine)
for example: on the srt4, it has been known that it is not good enough to just torque down your rod bolts, u need to measure bolt stretch because of the strong crank throw.

anything similar or maybe something else on the vq? oh n its a 2006 revup engine
thanks
note edit: redid thread for proper subforum

My build is for an 05 DE, but many of the same components will be used. There are many different levels of build depending on your value of money and if you want to do all of the components at once and have your ride down for a while or if you want to do the build in chunks.

Also, it is best to do a lot of research and ask specific questions rather than ask the same ones noobs repeat over and over. Just giving you a heads up .

rod bolt stretch method is always the preferred method on any engine!!!!

Good advice below, because you know, you are the first person to ever ask these things...

You don't want to build your car, when you could buy one that is already built right :

About a year ago, there was a post where somebody had his block drilled and tapped to go with 1/2" studs, and experienced all sorts of problems because the holes that were made were not perfectly lined up. I would not risk doing that considiering the ARP L19 Head Studs match the stock threads, and I not seen anybody post anything but positive comments about the L19s.

I also remember one post where somebody recommended using the stock head studs, but this does not appear to be the norm for built VQ motors pushing high hp.

There are some very good engine builders who post in this forum. I used Import Parts Pro, but Forged Performance and GTM also make good motors. I'm sure others do as well, but these are the companies I am most familiar with. For the little bit of money you will save doing it yourself, it probably is not worth the risk unless you are an expert with all of the proper tools and experience.

I believe its jkenefic - I think it was using HR stock bolts only. He's had great results as far as I know. I'm pretty sure the L19s are the most common right now.
