WTF is a v-max?

Even if all dyno's were calibrated the same, they'd all still read differently. There are far too many variables involved to make good comparisons from one to the next.

When Dynapacks arent using other corrections they tend to read higher than DJ's, because it's hub hp, not whp. Then DJ, then DD, and finally the Mustang as lowest. Many of those can be manipulated though, so take some of the numbers with a grain of salt from some shops-especially the ones who use DJ corrections on non DJ equipment, that is uber ghey...

edit-at the end of the day trap speeds dont lie. Times show off the drivers ability to hook and control the car, trap is more an indication of power. If a 500whp car is trapping 116mph the dyno is being manipulated or the drivers sucks a huge rhino **** and shouldnt be driving that much power.

little known fact........dynojet's calibration/software is based on the factory hp rating of a 1985 v-max motorcycle.considering most dyno's correct to a dj makes you wonder what you just paid for.

no......it's not a joke,it's a fact!

alberto's got it right,if you want to know what your hp is,go down the track and do the math.

Here is an article I found that actually compared a Mustang Dyno to a DynoJet. It's conclusions are based on actual testing using the same vehicle. A very interesting read.

It seems that based on how the settings on any individual dyno are set up (weather, elevation, smoothing, gear selection, traction, fans) you can vary greatly in your horsepower #, IMHO.

Agreed that DJ is considered the industry standard though .
hey i loved my DD number. remember when everyone thought i only had 440 wheel for so long

I actually liked using the Mustang dyno (I was assisting Roger with my tune). It has a lot of features that help with tuning. You can very the load, set it to a specific speed, and do some other neet things. Let's say you want to focus on a certain area of your map, you can set the load to keep your boost and rpm in that area fairly easily. It seems to me to be a very valuable tool. It is very expensive, though.
