I can't wait to see Mike's monster come alive. Let's see how well my calculation predicts his boost. I said 29 - 34 psi to get to 1000 whp (assuming a "ballbreaker" dyno). 34 psi was being a bit conservative on the engine efficiency. With the Dynojet and revised hp, here is my prediction (based on a less conservative estimate of 29 psi in the previous calculation):

24 psi boost for 950 whp on the Dynojet dyno.

27 psi boost for 950 whp pull on the Dyno Dynamics dyno. 24 psi if you only go to 850 whp on the DD

Extending and adjusting the exhaust, since we had previously modified it to work with our custom JWT 3 inch downipes. Clearing the downpipe and steering knuckle as well. Working through our punchlist of about 15 small things before we fire the bird up.

850 or a little over that is the most it will see on Sharif's number robbing dyno. The 1000whp run will be done on a DJ 20 to 21 psi is what I think it will need to hit the 850 on Sharif's dyno.

Your estimate might be closer than mine. 24 psi on the DD for 850 whp is based on working through the equations, starting with the air flow estimate generated by my fuel flow calculator.

If I take my last dyno run (600+ whp/17.5 psi), and then scale 17.5 psi by 1.41 (for the increased hp), and then 0.875 (for the larger motor), it comes to 21.6 psi.

I never pushed them that hard. I ran out of head room due to using pump gas at 17.5 psi, but the Greddy's were not anywhere near maxing out. I'm guessing somewhere around 25 psi, but this is only a guess.

Should be somewhere in there.....the other big-dog turbo setup ( )
with crazy heads/cams and twin 67's made like 750-800rwhp on 18-19psi on their Mustang Dyno.
Tune is really gonna change a lot at higher boost levels. I was amazed what 1-2 degrees of timing did to mine at 20psi of boost!!!!! (from 510rwhp to 600rwhp with 2 degrees of timing lol).

Just kidding. Our engines should be able to hold up to 30 psi, for a short while anyway. With Mike's engine, I'm not sure if his clutch and drive train will hold up, though.

Mike, here is a rear mounted gearbox for you: http://www.xtrac.com/pdfs/6012%20Sup...x%2008July.pdf

Get a torque tube from a Vette, a 944, or something similar. This will help balance out your car after all of the extra weight you have added to the front with the turbo kit, etc. Better traction and better weight distrubution.

With Mike's engine, 30 psi will probably put him over the 1000 whp mark on a DD dyno. Probably over 1100 on a DJ. I don't know how long third gear will last, or even the clutch.

The gearbox I posted the link to should hold up, though. It's a little heavy, but it is a synchromesh unit to make daily driving more comfortable. They have sequential dog boxes that are lighter, but dog boxes aren't very street friendly. He could also go with the Getrag 7DCL750 http://www.getrag.de/en/253, but I don't think he likes paddle shifters.

Any of these will take a considerable amount of work getting everything fit and mounted. There will be custom fabrication involved.

As you can tell, I have been pondering over this as a future direction for my build (not anytime in the near future).

If you get move the weight of the transmission to the rear, and open up some space in the front, there are a lot of possibilities that open up... TT VK 56, TT LS3 or LS99, etc. etc.

Doesnt XKR have Triple Carbon Clutch?? I would try 30psi if I had a spare built engine/TT/Clutch/Tranny..

Don't forget SP had no problems with trans (and that was actually a 008 trans) and they had the RPS twin clutch

I think Mike said the Carbonetics tripple disk is rated to 900 hp. That is likely crank hp, not wheel hp. I had a Clutchmasters twin disk rated to 600 hp, but I fried the clutch plates with about 575 whp launching at 3500 rpm with a moderate amount of clutch slippage.
