boost build up question

boost build up question
took a turbo charged z for a spin the other day, has a JIC full ti exhaust on it the owner mentioned not to build boost because the exhaust might crack... i just nodded and hit the gas
what exactly did he mean? keeping the revs high between gear changes? or feathering the clutch? just wondering and doubt the exhaust would crack? its made out of TI for good reason

I am not sure which is worse...the rainbow sherbet or the fact that you have a fridge full of it!
