Default Iphone/Ipod 0-60, 1/4 mile app

Has anyone tried "Test Track"? Wanted to see what results people got with this app.

Did a number of pulls in the past 2 days. Wasn't trying to do too much, because I don't want to put too much wear and tear on my tranny.

Nevertheless, here are some results for those interested:

The iphone is in a secure vertical holder.

Specs: APS TT, 368.1whp and 350tq on Dyno Dynamics.

Secluded road where I was able to get up to 60 mph+.

0-60:

*First Night. 40-45 degrees. Best run was 3.97 sec, next was 4.37, last 5.1 seconds.

*Second night. 34 degrees. First 5.14 (missed 2nd gear), 2nd run 4.14 sec, 3rd 4.40 sec.

My results seem fairly accurate. I can monitor when the seconds start and then look down at the speedo till I hit 60. Basically the seconds stop when I'm somewhat in the beginning of 3rd i think. (Rev up). I'm thinking If the BMW M3 e92 can hit 4.1 seconds with less power, and more weight I'm sure that my 3.97 second time (in ideal conditions) is possible. What do you think?

My quarter mile times seem to be fairly congruent with my power output and cold weather conditions. 12.46, and 12.36.

The problem is that the trap speed is just waaay off. It says I trapped at 135, but I think my speedo was at about 114+. I think I was in tail end of 4rth shifting to 5th when the seconds stopped.. I was honestly looking at the seconds roll when I should have been paying attention to the speedometer.

Anyway, was wondering if other people have used this application, and what were your results.

These things are known for being garbage. Fun to play with, but dont mean a thing. LMAO @ your 1/4 et and especially the speed.

edit-go to the track, then use the proven calculators for estimating 0-60mph.

I know this.. that's the point.. fun.

Be that as it may, I'd like to know what other people's experience are with it. I wouldn't go as far as to say the thing is "garbage". But of course it isn't the holy grail of accuracy either. The 0-60 numbers do seem to be in range for my power output and weather conditions, good launch etc.

Anyway.. not trying to prove anything here. Bashing not necessary.

If you go to the track and validate the readings with time slips across several runs, then you'll have some data to support future readings. Till then, well, no way to know that the #s mean anything. I have a GTECH-RR that I won on G35driver and have kept installed. It's a fun toy, but again, no way could I claim as valid...

Cool beans. What kind of readings did you get with your GTECH compared to the track.

I have the PocketDyno+ app on my phone. I made 363whp/396wtq at Performance factory and the phone said I made 362whp... pretty damn accurate. Not to say people should rely on these apps though.

I trapped 116mph on my old tune and haven't had a chance to go to the track with my new tune, but the app said I trapped 118mph.

I have the same app. The HP seems to be right. At GTM I dyno'd at 365whp and the app said I did 375hp. I have never been to a track so I don't even try to campare the 1/4 imes.

remember that mph on those things means nothing compared to the track anyway.

That is giving you an instantaneous mph at the 1/4mile mark. At the track they are giving you an average over the last 60ft (I think its 60 it may be different), but at track its not an instantaneous mph.

but fun to play with none-theless

It's called Dynolicious. I'm going to try that next. It's deeper than the Test Track app. You have to have your engine on.. calibrate it.. put in the weight of your car. Estimated hp. etc. Saves a record of your runs.

Other members have posted the results of similar gadgets, and the results are suspicious. 135 MPH trap! Ridiculous. And if the trap speed is absurd how reliable are the other numbers?

Correct. Drag racing trap speed is the average speed over the final 60 feet.

Yeah I know the trap is like wtf. My speedo was at about 114 when I got my time.

Anyway, seems like the 0-60 is more "accurate". It was easier for me to monitor the seconds from when I actually launched the car, until I got it to 60 mph.

+1 on going to the track and verify you #... Have been toying with my GTech for over a year and just use it mainly to see improvement on my shifting/launch and tuning my car. FWIW I went to the track and did 5 runs I compared my Gtech # to my slip and found out that my Gtech Trap is .5 mph slower compare to my slip and ET is about .05-.03 faster which is pretty accurate I might say. That is less than .1 second margin compare to my actual track slip so I'm impress.

Just a glimpse of what a perfect driver in perfect conditions could do.
