For some local racing I can only run a 3.5L....but I NEED a cometic head gasket so the C8s may have been the way to go. I am a ***** so i wont rev much past 7500-8000rpm anyway. I am not going for XKRs huge power numbers and it is primarily a street car so it would be nice to keep some decent street manners so i think i will be happy with the C2s for now anyway.

You guys are making me think i should have went with the C8s now

Gord, I'm glad your fix was a single part(s) and you didn't lose more time. Seems like these motors are full of pitfalls that one thing is done odd or wrong they fail.

Hope to see your car on the road again soon, I'm sure the guys at Lightspeed will have you hooked up in no time

Default Perma fail

Well I can't F-N win. I got the cams and new valve springs installed. I put the car back together went to add fluids and just when the rad was full it started leaking antifreeze from near the bottom hose, i tightened the hose clamp and it kept leaking. I then realized it was not the hose it was a hole in my new PWR rad with 300miles on it the AC condenser rubbed 2 holes in the rad. So i tore the car apart (the front end has to come off to get the rad out) swapped in the factory rad in hopes of driving the car for a couple weeks before the snow comes. I get the car all put together again I break in the cams then I was finishing up a few things before taking the car out for a drive. As i am pulling out of the shop my tuner stops me and asks what is that strange noise coming from your car. i pop the hood and there is a sound kind of like shaking a pop can full of rocks. It sounds like its coming from the timing cover area. So we park the car and were planning to look into it when we could get a few more opinions of where the noise is coming from( it was also 4am so we went thinking that straight). Then my tuner phoned me today he had another TT G35 that he was tuning and the customer was coming in from out of town to pick up his car today. Turns out when the owner was taking the car for a little test run the selonoid for the VCT broke and was leaking oil. So they asked if they could have mine and replace it Tuesday that way the owner could take his car and not have to come back again to get his car. I let the other guy have it I guess i am down for at least a few more days then Thursday i go to Montreal for work so it might be it for me this year. With any luck giving up the sleonoid might buy me some KARMA points and the noise will just be a timing chain tentioner. Sorry for the long post i am just depressed I am starting to feel like how Cass always describes his moods.

- I feel your pain Gord. I recommend alcohol at regular intervals to help cope. Hang in there and you will come out the other side of this eventually. I would love to be able to say its worth it in the end and all that, but I just got my car yesterday and it rained the entire 2.5 hour drive home, so I have no idea what the car drives like.

Think of the car in broader terms of life and take it as a personal challenge that you will not let the setbacks break your will.... no matter what they are or how often they occur. PM me for support or to vent if you would like.

Thanks Chris. I have been wondering WTF was I thinking taking on this project, its my last DIY project. All of my friends keep saying it will be worth it when its done I hope it is. The day I drove it on 18psi was pretty sweet. I have had so much grief I am starting to not want to turn the boost up ( I planned to max out the 850bbs)for fear of more issues, so my set up may never reach anywhere near its potential.

I agree with the need for alcohol to cope with **** I have been working long days then going to work on my car all night lately so there has been no time for booze. I was going to show a 40#er of Spiced rum who was boss last night then I fell asleep in my 3yr olds bed while I was tucking her in. Good news is I am going to Montreal for a week for work so lots of Booze and strip clubs are every where, I HEARD full release massages are only $150 a weeks worth of those a guy might be stress free

That certainly seems to be an area worth some research Gord. Try to put an answer to the age old question "How many manual release massages does it take to forget VQ fail?"

There may be no definitive answer here, but I think you owe it to the community to do the legwork on this one. I will await your results

I got the car running again after a whole summer of set backs, it needs a retune due to the bigger cams I added after a cam broke a few weeks ago. I got some guys to come down and take some pictures for me, I ran into a few issues with my battery so we ran out of light way to soon. If there is no snow when I get back from Montreal in two weeks we are going to try again. Hopefully a E85 tune with 700+whp is in the near future.

A lot of win going on in those pics, but I gotta ask........are the 1000cc injectors going to cut it with E85? I know blackbird said he hit 95% duty cycle at ~630whp (granted it was a DD) on E85 with 1200cc injectors... I'll keep my for the snow to stay away for a bit

Anywho,

Really, really nice. Well done.

The engine bay looks absolutely awesome, as does the rest of the car.

Anywho,

Thank you!
My tuner did the math not me on the 1000cc injectors he thought I should do over 700whp on his Mustang Dyno I guess I would like to find out for sure if not I might stick with race gas and meth. I havent seen alot of guys running E85 so its a newer idea to me. I am on my way over to Blackbirds thread now

how does the Vi-pec deal with air temp changes? Does it have a correctly function like the UTEC (with a lot more resolution hopefully)
