Default A little help needed after Vortech install...

Sorry, I've searched and searched and can't find anything on this...

I just got done installing my Vortech Supercharger, supporting mods I have are Walbro 255, RC 550cc injectors, UTEC and Injen exhaust. After getting it all done, I fired it up and it ran great, except I had a missfire in #3, no code, just a missfire. I could unplug that spark plug and it wouldn't make a difference. I tore it all apart again, and the plug smelled like fuel, and I WAS getting a spark too, so I got new plugs, regapped the plugs (to .030), checked all my connections and everything was good.

Started it up again today...nothing in #3, unplugged that coil pack again and it didn't do anything. I DO have a Service Engine Soon light on now however..So my question IS, if I have spark, and fuel, WHY is #3 not firing?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

No not yet, just have a base map from the last owner of the Vortech...if it was mearly a tuning problem, wouldn't it affect all cylinders? Or is this fairly common untuned?

have you checked compression? if you have spark, fuel, and air, the two things left are timing and compression. Bad tuning could cause bad timing (or some electrical error). I'd check compression. Are you sure it wasn't misfiring before install?

Ok so I pulled the codes and heres what I'm getting:

P0300 - Random Miss-fire (D'uh)
P0113 - IAT Sensor

Does that shed any light on this subject? I would greatly appreciate any help, its 55* and sunny here, and I really would like to take this bad boy out haha.

try swapping the coils around. if the problem follows the coil there's your problem if not you've ruled out the ignition coil and can move on to fuel and what not. You can repeat the step with the fuel injectors as well - it's possible that debris has partially clogged or jammed the injector causing it to flood the cylinder. It's easy for something to get into one from handling and installing.

Hope that helps and GL!

Thanks Duke! I actually just did that today haha, swapped coils and the miss didn't move, so I pulled it all apart and switched the #3 injector with the #2 injector, and now #2 is mis-firing instead, so the problem definitely lies with the injector.

Now the question is, do I spend $24 + shipping to ship it back to RC and have them clean/check it out? Does that usually work? Or do I just assume it's crap and spend the $100 and get a brand new one?

I think when they service them, they can tell you if they're malfunctioning. If thats the case, I would send it to em.
