I am getting my car ready to go to GRD for a re-tune next week. I am swapping my 3.12 out for a 2.87 but I am concerned with belt slip. I already have the GTM pulley upgrade but I'm still worried as I had some slipping issues last summer. I don't want to drive 6 hours, get it on the dyno and then have to deal with this problem. My friend has a sand blaster and I was thinking about sand blasting the grooves of my new pulley for added protection against belt slip. What do you guys think?

do the timrod belt mod too. not sure about sandblasting im sure it couldnt hurt..

Timrod method works the best. It's holding strong at 15psi without slipping.

Would think some additional friction will be gained but it may also lead to earlier belt failure and likely lot more belt dust getting into the Vortech filter..Someone posted this in the past. Don't remember who or results..

You could also consider some of that belt dressing that is used for agricultural equipment. Sand blasting should help though.

Thanks guys. The Timrod method looks like it would help reduce or eliminate squealing I have with my power steering pulley right after I start my car. I have included a link the shows the stock and Timrod setups so thanks Nexx for bringing that up. I have tried belt dressing Quamen but it seems to only be a temporary fix. I assume the agricultural equipment dressing would work better but I'm not sure where to begin to find it but that's what the internet is for. I'm going to go ahead and sand blast my pulley then and I will post some follow up pics and a review.

There are also pullies out there with slots milled in them perpendicular to the belt grooves. They do reduce belt life but they stop slip a significant amount.

dunno, i've run some decent boost without slipping ( 16-17psi), with no pulley mods. buy the correct length serp belt and there's no reason you should be slipping.

Have you thought about keeping the 3.12 on the front and switching out the supercharger pulley to a 28tooth? you will get the best of both worlds.. more grip on the front side and more boost!!

if he is a non-revup he should already have a 28 tooth cog pulley on the supercharger. i sandblasted my 2.87 serp pulley 3 years ago for additional traction and have not had a problem with it since.

I don't think this would add as much boost as a 2.87. I have thought about this but I think at best it would yield about 1lb more.

stay with the stock 32/28 cog setup, install the 2.87 serp " sand blast the ribs on the 2.87 pulley " install the timrod pulley kit and you will yield the best results. prepare yourself though! you will be making alot more boost. i was hitting 14 psi at 6600 rpm with the sc-trim. my boost comes in a little quicker with the Si-trim but max boost is about the same. i am also at 2100 ft above sea level so you may see a little more boost pressure.

Here ya go. This was on The Heartbreaker at Forged. Keep in mind I found a major boost leak after this so its probably lower than it should.
