Question How does your significant other feel about your FI investment?

I'm not sure if this thread has been posted yet. I'm curious how married spouses or soon to be married spouses feel about your choice to go spend the big bucks for FI.

If you have a story to share (or tips), this is the place to discuss your experience!

If you did your own labor and were gone for hours a day how did you get around that one also? Thanks in advance!

-Mike

I tried that at first but it's kinda obvious when the car is gone for a couple months...

It cost me 2x the amount I had to spend with my setup.. Half went to FI and the other half went to FRANCE!! Our deal is if I spend X amount on my car then my wife get X amount that she can spend on Vacation or Jewelry.. Not a bad deal coz I ended up going with her on her vacation at her expense... lol

I think my cars are the reason I no longer have a significant other...

Whatever I spend, I use to cut the amount in half and tell her that's what it cost me, then she caught on and started doubling what I tell her..... So now I quarter the price and tell her that's how much I spent.

My GF of nearly 6 years loves cars, she used to have an 06' Z

She has NEVER given my crap for how I spend my $$$, cars, paintball stuff, photography (camera/lenses), guns, etc Im into everything she doesnt say a word. She knows I like to keep busy with "hobbies" and is cool with it.

If your S.O. gives you crap you need to re-evaluate your relationship.

As a long as I support her fuking Bingo habit I'm good! She looks out for me through, when we were apt looking she wouldnt look at places w/o garages. Now we're at a house and she keeps talking about hardwood floors...I dont know what to do!

Default FI & being married

Long ago (20+ years of married life to the same person) both of us agreed to have separate accounts for our wish-list purchases. Mine - cars; hers jewerly/shoes.

Whatever is not earmarked for normal bills (house, insurance, food, normal day-to-day items, retirement, normal savings, vacations, etc.) can go into your wish-list fun account! I purchase a turbo kit, BBK kit, SS exhaust,,etc over the last three+ years saving this way. No worries and everything is great between us.
