Went to GRD yesterday and had my Vortech 2.87pulley and new exhaust tune done 414whp
When I purchased my Z and first joined this site back in 2007 I came up with my name 350Z400rwhp because 400 to the wheels was what I wanted to achieve one day with my car. I had not a clue how I was going to get there so I just started doing research. I started off wanting a Vortech and then decided I wanted a Turbonetics and then came back to the Vortech because of the easy installation and also the fact the I got a great deal on a used one. Last May I installed everything with the 3.12 pulley and had it tuned at Forged Performance and put down 330 to the wheels. Even though Sharif gave it a great tune I later found a major boost leak (a bolt I didn't install on the intercooler end tank) and had always wondered how much power I lost and how it may of thrown off my tune. I drove the car for about 5000 miles over the past year and had a lot of fun with my new found power. After awhile I got used to this and of course I started to want more. I knew I would eventually go for the 400 that I had always wanted so over this past winter I made some changes. I first installed an XO2 dual exhaust as I still had the stock one. I thought just having resonated test pipes would allow things to flow well enough but I found that the stock exhaust was holding me back and would be a bigger problem when I upped the boost. My next change was the 2.87 pulley. I knew this would at least bring me close to the level of power I wanted if not more. I was also wondering if this higher boost level would allow my meth injection to add some power as I didn't have any gains from it with my 3.12 pulley. I set an appointment at GRD yesterday for tuning and decided to make the 6 hour trip there and back all in one day. I picked my friend up at about 5:30 am and the adventure had begun. We arrived at GRD around noon and I was very impressed with their shop and Tuan's knowledge of tuning 350Z's. As things started to move forward with the tuning I had hopes for hitting 370-380 on pump gas and 400 with meth.
After a bit I asked where we were on 93 octane and he said 398! I then got really excited to see what the meth could do. It hit a best of 418 but ended up making 414whp when all was said and done. All of this was with afr's of 11.5 on gas and 12.2 with the meth so I felt good that it wasn't on the ragged edge of detonation. We finally left GRD around 5pm and started the drive back home. I didn't really have a chance to open it up because of traffic and rain but there were a few dry areas that I got a chance to lay into it a bit. When I did it felt very strong and pulls VERY hard on the top end even though I didn't take it past about 6000 for fear that I was going to lose it and I was super tired. The sounds that my car make now are amazing. Not sure what to compare it to but it sounds exotic once it passes 4500 rpm. I can't wait to run my car at the track and get some numbers and for things to dry out a bit as it still raining
Overall I couldn't be happier with the results. I would like to thank Tuan and GRD for the great tune. They treated me very well and were very fair on the cost of my tune. I would recommend then to anyone in the mid west area and consider them one of the best out there when it comes to working with 350Z's.Also, thanks to everyone on this site. The information on here and the advice from many has helped me finally achieve and surpass my 400rwhp goal!
Here are a couple of videos of my dyno pulls.

btw, check this video out. 414 is probably more like 44X ish on a dynojet.

I believe he is if I am recalling his name correctly. He was a pretty cool guy and took us for a tour of their shop which is huge and had about 20 cars in it. They had some sweet Z's, WRX's, Audi's, and a sweet single turbo Supra.
Haha Irshad lol I called him Twany once and the guys over at ChicagoZ NEVER let me live that one down.
Irfan, he's still there. In fact I spoke with him a couple weeks ago about some FI and tuning options for my G.
They installed my HFCs too. Everytime I talk to them I end up spending $$$$. I know its only a matter of time between my now and my soon to be fate just like the O. P here. Congrats bro! Enjoy the ride for sure. GRD FTW!!!!

It was probably Irfan who gave you the tour, he's in his early 20s.
Great to see another vortech in the 400s... be safe with that new found pw.
Not sure about dynopak always giving out lower #s compared to dynojet but in CA the dynopak are making +20-30 more whp compared to the regular SAE dynojet.
