boost controller
hey i was looking at the Boost Controller and i was just wondering what you guys had. What are some of the positives and negitives of them. i was looking at the Greddy E-01 Boost Controller, Greddy Profec B-Spec 2 Boost Controller or the A'PEXi AVC-R Digital Boost Controller. Just wondering what you had and if you liked it or not. If you didn't what one would you get if not on the list list it please
I like my EVC6. The instructions and user interface are absolute crap though -- unless you completely lock the damn thing, it is almost impossible to change map from A to B and vise-versa without accidentally changing the boost settings.

I have the E01 and its pretty good. You have to get the set/gain dialed in though. My 9psi before I dialed it in is completely different than my now dialed in set/gain match. Pulls like a **** compared to b4. I need to quit being cheap and get the boost thumb switch! It was between this and the HKS for me and I'm happy. Either way u will be fine.
My favorite still has to be the built in Haltech boost control. You can ramp in boost based on gear, rpm, front wheel speed, etc straight out of the box! This works well for the cars that can't handle full power in 1st and 2nd and start bringing on more boost in 3rd 4th +
At the risk of sounding repetitive....evc6.
. I have tried just about every other dedicated boost controller and none work better or more consistently than the hks evc 6.
. Haltech bcs is excellent as well, but not a standalone boost controller. Also boost level changes require you to take the laptop out and load a different map.

Maybe for normal folks a standalone boost controller is fine... lol.

That said, I would like to know the advantage of the stepper motor vs. solenoid as I am told the stepper motor design (e.g. EVC6) is better. If it really does allow more precise control, Hal, anyway to get one integrated into the Haltech? I've noticed on 5 ms Haltech data logs that the 30 Hz solenoid allows rapid fluctuations up to plus or minus 1 psi around the target (not detectable at all on the boost gauge and perhaps not relevant).
EDIT: I'm loving these R888 tires you recommended Sharif. Not much wheel slip going on anymore - car just sticks and launches; the GTM-5AT can even handle the 1-2 shift at close to 70-80% WOT thanks to the grip of these tires.
