Default Turbo Oil Feed - Will This Work?

I am doing a custom turbo and I am looking for the fitting that is used to tap into the oil pressure sender for a turbo oil feed. Does anyone know what thread the fitting is? Will this work?

Many people use a fitting like that (available at local auto parts store for 1/2 that price) though your factory oil pan is not NPT. It is close (1 thread difference, 27 vs 28) and many people make this work - but be careful if you choose to do so as it easy to mess up the threads and/or crack the pan if overtightened.

I have a male to female straight adapter here that is proper thread for the oil pan and is NPT female so you can thread an NPT Tee in like the one you have linked. Let me know if you need it.

So what thread is it exactly? Something metric I assume?

I was going to buy the same fitting from McMaster Carr...they have them for about $2.

I understand what you are saying about the adapter you have, but what about the male threads on the oil pressure sender? Wont I have the same problem when I try to thread that into one of the female ports of the NPT tee?

Ok I am assuming that the oil pressure sender has M10x1.0 threads, which would be about .393" major thread diameter and 25.4 threads per inch. That would explain why a 1/8" NPT (.375-.405" major dia, 27 threads per inch) would fit, albiet poorly.

Am I right?

Bump.

Does anyone know what thread the stock oil pressure sender is for sure? I am going to machine a distribution block, but I need to know what thread it is first.

You know, you are probably right. 1/8" BSP is 28 TPI so that would coincide with what Hal was saying.

Now the question is, is it BSPP (parallel) or BSPT (tapered) haha.

SmallTuner- I would take it off and check but that's a lot of work to go though! If someone on here knows, then I saved myself a whole lot of trouble.

I wish they had one in steel, but this one will probably work fine.

Thanks guys.

thanks for the info MX! I also need to make my own oil lines.

what size lines are you running -4? would you happen to know if we need oil resistors going to the turbo for the DE engines?

Yes, I will be using -4 (1/4" OD hard lines) for the turbo oil feed, and I will be using oil restrictors on both turbos (Garrett GT2871R). I think the oil restrictors depend more on the turbo you are using than the engine itself - as far as I know, all Garrett GT series BB turbos should run oil restrictors. JWT uses one restrictor right at the junction block in their kit (to keep cost down, presumably). I would rather run the restrictors right at the turbos. I bought two GT BB installation kits from www.atpturbo.com which come with the restrictor fittings.
