Sorry to hear about this man. Sounds like you are in good hands now though. So you have a SFR Kit? There is a guy that just made a thread asking if this is a good kit. Sounds like the pump is not up to the task. I always assumed this was a great kit guess we will find out more tomorrow.

....this is jsut a shame on the unmentioned shop......we did not give a break from BS to Hills and F:T no way we will give any break to (unamed)Shop with less reputation that those other two either.

Seems like such a small detail. Can you clarify what happens if this wax seal fails on the scavenge pump? I presume it wouldn't return oil effectively from the low mounted turbos and you'd get turbo seal oil leaks. How did it end up causing oil starvation for the motor?

interesting correlation between suspect and cause of failure.....
but SFR and SP have said numerous times those pumps were designed specifically for that application. Maybe they have changed the pumps since the OP bought his kit, but both Tim and Larry assured me that the pumps are solid.

no its not a loose hose, if it was it would be coming out of the hose or fitting itself. its not, the oil is pouring out of the body of the pump itself. the wax seal is supposed to seal the oil from getting into the main body. it creates a pumping effect as the motor turns.since the wax seal degraded, the oil was passing through into the body of the pump and dumping it all out. his oil pressure was reading only 15 psi at idle and even giving it throttle still would read 15 psi. lack of oil pressure plus neglect of all this can damage a motor pretty quick. we bench tested the pump before dissassembling it and it was for sure not pumping the way its supposed to. 1 to 1.5 gpm is what the rating shows, but it wasnt pumping that at all.
I know its black, and has metal fittings lol.....the original one had plastic fittings that would crack...so they (manufacturer) upgraded to metal fittings. (mine has the metal fittings)
I don't remember manufacturer off top of my head, but they are built for racing applications.......and the pro-efi is controlling the pump (so its not on when the motor isn't!!!!! that means its not pumping when no oil is there to pump)

If I had 150 miles on a built motor, i'd be running around figuring out who (not me) is paying for it. That is complete BS that the OP is not blaming anyone. Maybe 150 miles is all I should expect when i build my motor too....

I am giving the shop ample time to respond to the thread and/or cotact me about what steps they are prepared to take to help with the problem. In the past, they have treated me fairly and I want to give them an opportunity to do the right thing. They are regulars on here and even a sponsor I believe, so I know they will see this thread.

I'm not convinced that the pump is the total reason that the motor lost the rings and headgaskets. I believe it played a role in it, but I think somewhere along the way something happened that hasnt been said and no one is taking responsibility.
The bottom line is that the car left my house with a perfect motor (no leaks, etc) and tune but a broke trans and came back with a fixed trans (I think) and a broke motor. How is this my responsibility?

If the oil pump failed (either engine or scavange) and you lost oil/oil pressure, I would assume the first to go would be a bearing (as been shown over and over again on poor builds).
Yours almost sounds like it wasn't mic'd (measurements for tolerances taken) at buildtime. Remember oil isn't just splashing around all over in there. It is being forced into small passages between metals...if those passages are too large, you have low oil pressure. Too small, high oil pressure.....way off, well then who knows really.
I had a motor (on an old Z31) where the bores were too large for the pistons/rings......when cold and at high boost conditions, oil would get past the rings and be consumed, but normal driving was ok....ultimately motor still failed quickly

We have been using this pump for years with very minimal problems.I am not sure if there has been some sort of change to the way the pump is manufcatured or what the deal is but I have one on my car for 3 years and 25K+ miles.Before that we had used the Mocal pump and it had a high failure rate.
As far as this thread goes.........one thing that was not mentioned is the 50 miles that were unaccounted for from the time it left our shop til the time Ernie got the car. 50 miles unaccounted once the transport company picked the car up!!!!!! The car was sent here cause there was a problem with the torque convertor so I told Ernie, we would fix it and do everyhting free of charge.So we did and test drove it and shiped the car back.When it left, it drove great,I commented ot Ernie how fast this car was, and it had no leaks or issues.We would have never sent a car out of here that was leaking,overheating and that sort of thing so I trule beleive the driver of the trnasport was out driving this car between Calirofnia and Texas.And another thing that sort of supports this theory was that the driver did not list mileage when he picked it up from us or dropped it off to Ernie.
