Default Problems w/ Power Enterprise Turbos

Makes it easier if i just quote what she posted

Even though the Garrett local build fell through, then a few weeks of me trying to decide what I really wanted to do, I was elated when the new turbo made it to the shop.

I decided to stay true to Power Enterprise and pray the gains were what I wanted. All along this project has given me nothing but problems. Since April of 2007 when the car was taken to Nick's shop to have the PE's installed to today (8-28-09) it's been PURE drama and very little problem free driving time.

August 28th I was bringing my Z home!! Finally. She's been at S&R since April 27th when they discovered the detonation. Sent a text to Bobby and let him know that I'd be there at noon. His reply was not good. He said that the smoke is still there at start-up and gradually thins out but it's not gone. Bobby told me he would show me when i got to the shop.

Basically the BRAND NEW turbo is leaking. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the passenger one has a leak too, just not as bad. I was livid. I kept saying to the tech how can a brand new, out of the box, turbo leak so badly (oil is in the pipes along with tiny shiny flecks of metal)??? The only reply is that PE sent a bad one. The real bad news is that this kit is going to leak and fail.

The shop has made a decision. They are pulling the turbos off my car because they don't want damage to the engine (whew, at least my engine isn't screwed). Bobby called PE right away and told them what happened, they want pictures. Bobby's techs made a video of the problem, pictures were taken. I'm asking for a full refund of both turbos. One has less that 1,500 miles on it. The other has ZERO miles on it.

I'm done with POWER ENTERPRISE.

Bobby and Jeff own the shop. I spoke at length with Jeff about what I can go with now. I asked them to hook me up with some reliable, NO DRAMA, turbos. I hope they make them in LeMans Sunset to match my Z Babe. I really just want to experience drama free driving. My dream of owning a turbo 350Z can't be this hard. It can happen!!!

No tears this time. I have basically put it out of my mind (can you say shock). I knew it would be a struggle. Had no clue the f***ing drama that this would cause me. I've seen so many beautifully tuned turbo cars and had no idea the amount of blood, sweat, and tears that go into getting them there.

Bobby and the crew at the shop are amazing. They have been patient with me, very careful with my car, and share their thoughts with me. The techs are just as baffled by it all and will use my story to discourage PE usage.

I am determined to have my dream Z be the mean machine I know that she can be!!! Now to make it happen.......stay tuned.

Oil restrictors installed? How do the drains return oil to the block (pan spacer, tapped block, etc...)?

The PE kit provides an aftermarket oil pan.
No oil restrictors are included either.

I installed a PE kit way back in 05/06. The kit was OK but the manifolds cracked one after another. It was driven hard on a stock block/stock PE kit for months. Eventually we upgraded and replaced almost every part except for the turbos. It ended up making 580whp on an SGP built SB auto with race gas.

Just sounds like some bad turbos.
Did they inspect them before they spent the time to install them?

sorry to hear of these problems, just hope my turbos will behave! (if not I'll just upgrade to the Garrett ones that Philthy posted in my thread )
