Have any FI'ers had any kind of throttle response issues?
It did this back in November. I parked the car for a couple of days, and it was totally fine after that. Then it randomly reappeared tonight. I'll start her up again on Saturday, so hopefully its okay. I can't data log because I have a Mac and I'm doubtful that the UTEC software will be compatible.
Jamez,
I think this may be a UTEC issue. I have been chasing a Throttle issue for a few years. It is totally random when it happens, but seems, to be worse in hot weather. I have changed TBs twice......didn't fix it! I also had the KP technologies brake boost module. I removed that, and that fixed a different throttle issue I had. BUt, I still have the dead throttle on random occasions............The utec is about the only thing left in my diagnosis chain. btw....my car is G35 with a Revup. not sure if this is a Utec/Revup issue

I have the same issue with my UTEC. Seems to be a common denominator here (and its not MAFs, TBs, or APPs).
When was the last UTEC update?
Has anyone tried jumping the wires around the UTEC?

a friend of mines was running a turbonetic st setup with a haltech and he out of the blue one day had this trouble. Pulled codes that dealt with the throttle relay and motor. I swapped everythign to try and diagnose it and it still didnt work. Pretty much pulled the whole car apart looking for a broken wire or something but eventually traced it down to a bad ecu

First thing I thought when I read the title was Hes running a utec.....
I also plan on ditching my utec due to throttle issues. Sometimes when you pull up to a light or stop sign and let off the gas the car wants to get really rich causing the car to want to stall, gotta give it gas in order to keep it from stalling, in turn this causes a nice puff of rich smoke. However thats not the main problem. The switch over point from a vacuum to + boost ends up causing the power to fall flat on it's face. the car at times is not really drivable when used for normal driving, thank god it's a toy and when I take it out I tend to stay either at no throttle or full throttle =) full throttle is never an issue.
Anyways, utec will be gone as soon as it warms up.

I have had 2 issues.
First one was caused by a faulty TB. Throttle response would lag, and it got so bad it would leave me on the side of the road unable to accelerate or maintain speed. All dash lights would come on and eventually the car started and gave me enough throttle response to limp home 5 miles. Replaced TB and did a reset and all was fine.
Other wasnt as common I had a KPierson brake boost module installed. On occasional startups even after warming up the car the throttle response would be baaaad. Also left me looking like a fool unable to move, I couldnt even leave the neighborhood.
Took me a while to diagnose this as it happened on/off again on startup, and while driving at certain rpm/loads. Eventually I ripped that $hit out and no more throttle response issues. I thought it was the Haltech but Im glad I was wrong.
Good luck!

It must be the utec... I see this pop up and as someone mentioned, its the common denominator. We rarely if ever hear of haltec, pro-efi, fcon users ever having this problem.
Superchargedog, how long have you had your setup running? How many miles? Mine started acting up around 6,000 miles after the twins.

I saw an issue similar to this. The guy was running a haltech, but the problem was that water ran down the harness through the rubber grommet on the firewall on the passenger side. It corroded the harness. This is probably unlikely, but have you disconnected the harness to make sure everything is getting good contact?
And switching to Haltech is a good idea ......

I'm still waiting for someone with a UTEC that has this problem to circumvent the throttle stuff from the UTEC. I know the UTEC monitors TPS but I don't believe (from memory) it uses it for anything.

Maybe txs/Utec uses faulty pins that wear out and lose connection??
yup.
I can't leave my car for a week without starting it. If I take it to the airport, I disconnect the battery. otherwise, I'll have a dead battery when I get back after a week.
additionally, I just put my 3rd battery in the car in less than 5 years. sotck was gone in about a year and a half. then, I put in an Odyssey PC900($$$) battery. that lasted a bit less than 3 years. Now, I have an OPtima RedTop. Odyssey gave me a new PC900 battery under warranty, too.
