Default Aps tt + jwt c8r

ARP Main Studs
ARP Con Rod Bolt Kit
Eagle Con Rod
Wiseco 8.8 .020
Koyo R‐Core Radiator
JWT HD Valve Springs
ARP L19 Head Studs
VQ35HR Headgasket
Gasket Kit‐Engine Repair
Rev‐UP Oil Pump
Water Pump
Nismo Thermostat
VQ35DE Pathfinder Cooling Kit
JWT C8R Rev Up Cams
ATI Damper
Forge Wastegate Actuators
CJM twin pump assembly

That's what I have so far on my build
I have ordered pretty much the big things.
I'm not dead set on the HR Headgasket and HR Headbolts yet.

My real question is with the standard APS TT kit and the JWT C8R Cams.
I want to make power all the way to 7500RPM possibly higher if possible.

Will the Garrett turbo's be out of their range when the Cam's actually come into their own?

Will the ACL Bearings handle the higher RPM range or should I be looking elsewhere?

Which springs should I order the Forge actuators with?

I searched for any experience with the APS TT and C8R and did not find anything.

I currently have a:
Haltech EMS with AIT sensor
Meth Kit
DW 600cc injectors (Injectors will be upgraded)
CJM Stage 1 FRS
Greddy Evo TT
APS 3.5" DP
Mrev + and 5/16th Spacer

Antyhing else I should be looking at?

I don't think JWT recommends any higher than 7200-7500 rpms for any of their cams. I would give them a call and talk to either Jim or Clark. You'll have to get through the first line of sales people.

This was from a NA build with the C8R.

Reason I ask in here is because I don't see anyone running these cams with my setup

Jkenefic found that the stock HR headstuds allowed headlift at ~16-17lbs of boost. Get the ARP L19's.

Yeah I'm iffy on the HR head bolts but I'm set on the HR head gaskets so I can cool the heads better.

Hey Cass hit me up on how much did Blouch charged you on the turbo rebuild and their turnaround time. Maybe I get Blouch to get me a bigger AR housing with bigger internals so it breathes better up top. First I'm trying to find out if it's really necessary but I want to keep all my options open.

The HR headstuds are pennywise pound foolish IMO compared to the L19's that are already well proven.

Glex,

If you intend to rev past 7500RPM, Cosworth cams might be worth considering as an alternative to the JWT C8R. They make rev-up versions of both their ZK1 and ZK2 cams. Cosworth built their cams to be compatible with their cylinder heads, which have valvetrain components good to a max of 10,500RPM.

However (as you are already considering), your standard APS turbos will likely run out of steam and power will begin to drop off before 7500RPM. IMO you will need bigger turbos to make power all the way to 7500RPM and beyond. Julian made power beyond 7000RPM with BC cams, but he had the APS Extreme kit.

I wonder if it would be more cost effective to have Blouch modify your standard APS twins and then modify your kit to support the extra power, or to just upgrade your kit's components to the APS Extreme with it's turbos, EG's, downpipes, and larger intercooler. Maybe Chris (Cass007) can chime in with his thoughts on this.

Rude I been trying to upgrade the APS kit in the ways that you mention and most vendors here will testify to that. I have tried getting the APS extreme IC, Exhaust manifold so I can go external wastegate etc...... APS has a great kit but their customer support is lacking when it comes to things like that. I even inquired with GTM about upgrading to one of their kits as a possibility.

Blouch is definitely the way I was looking towards since they are one state over from me and it makes perfect sense to take the turbo's to them while the motor is out and have them modify it. The C8R have already been ordered.

Rude - If you already have, or do not want the EMS/Fuel components that the Extreme kit gives you, it is definately cost effective to just swap out the turbos with Blouch. In Glex's case, I believe he already has the BB turbos, so he just needs to swap impellers to get bigger power.

Glex - I don't know how hard it would be for you to find the 3.5" down pipes with the external wastegate setup, but Blouch could easily put a pin through the internal gate and weld it shut for you. At this point I think we should all watch XKR's build and the power he makes on the Greddy IC. I don't see why the IC upgrade is necessary with meth and if intake temps are good. If Mike can make power with his setup, we should be fine as well. My tuner seems to think the airflow bottleneck is at the plenum to make more power above 7K rpm .

I dont see the standard APS kit making power to 7500rpm's regardless of cam choice.

Yea im kind of confused here, Isnt the greddy kit rate for almost as much as the APS extreme TT?

Ive seen alot of people here going for big builds with both. Why are you swapping kits, instead of just swapping out for bigger turbos?
