granted we are pigeonholed like you said, i want to get them, just want to do the due diligence first.
Actually, they've been around longer than you may think and more people are using them than you realize. The Intense widebody G has had them since last year and both Jorge and I purchased our Pro Series axles last year for our builds.

The weakest link in the drivetrain until the release of the Pro Series was the stock inner CV, which was retained on the Level 2 & Level 5 axles. The inner CV was what was commonly breaking on the drag strip, especially with the Level 2 & 5 axles. Prior to upgrading to the Pro Series, Intense busted an inner CV on the strip. Once Intense upgraded to the Pro Series, the next weak link was discovered to be the diff's single mounting point which broke and the diff tried to separate from the subframe. Hence, why the diff braces have been developed to reinforce the diff with additional mounting points.

theys funny, all the broken axles i have seen including mine were outer cvs.

Bri, Blackbird, etc did you break your inner(diff) or outer(wheel hub) CV?
Still it all boils downt o how DSS handles problems. So far, not a positive response

Outer, but it was at the inner part of the splines

I understand the concern about the DSS warranty but again we have no other option

I broke the inner cv on the passenger side axle (level 2) at the beginning of the summer. I broke the outer CV on the drivers side axle (Level 2) a few weeks ago.

So I assume the DSS2/5 use a different outer CV than the Pro's?

I couldnt imagine them still using a part that breaks on their pro axles.. Redesigned inner CV doesnt matter much if people are breaking the same outer CVs used on the Level2/5/pros

Again, might not be any other choice, but i'd rather spend $70 on something thats going to break than 1800$. But if the pro's use a different outer CV than the level 2/5, still sounds like a good deal!

The Level 5/Pro axles use the same outer CV. I don't know of anyone that has broken a Level 5 outer CV. The level 2 outer CV is very similar to a stock outer CV, but it's supposed to be stronger. That is the CV that I and others have broken.

We use Driveshaft Shop level 5 axles and Pro axles in many of our big builds including our 8 second drag 350z (1.3x to 1.4x 60' times) and my 9 second 6speed street car that launches around 6500rpm (seen below).

This group buy will be for new Pro axle sets, built for this order. They will of course carry the normal warranty, though we have yet to see any problems from Pros that required use of it. It will take approximately one week for this order to be filled by DSS.

Hal, any comment on the wheel bearing issue and could you clarify if that is covered by the warranty (or ask a DSS rep to chime in)? Thanks.

They changed/fixed/updated the spline/spacer/hub design to work perfectly and are not having any problems/complaints.

Warranty is 1 year against breakage.

It is actually DSS's word, though we do not have any problems to report as of late from customer cars nor my personal car.

Hal can you have Ryan create an official group buy thread in the vendor classifieds so I won't have to be resposible for who is actually comitted and who isn't

Hey everyone. Hopefully I've been able to speak with most of you while this has been progressing. Hal and myself were indeed away at SEMA last week, but most questions should have been answered in this thread.

I would like for this thread to remain open for discussion and other general questions, however, I have created a new thread in the group buy section now that we have the ball rolling: https://my350z.com/forum/vendor-grou...group-buy.html

As a reminder, all confirmed interest needs to be handled directly through us. If your name is not listed as confirmed on the official group buy thread that I have started, please contact me at your earliest convenience. The group buy arrangement is not necessarily limited to the first 6 participants, but as originally promised, the first 6 will be guaranteed the pricing that has already been discussed, and will receive their axles first.

Warranty issues are handled directly through DSS. However, we will gladly facilitate any part of that process, along with installation related issues. I believe Hal can also vouch that it is pretty straightforward.

I can't say for sure if the dyno will make it to Zdayz 2010.. if anyone saw the rig and trailer we brought, you can probably understand that it's a bit of a journey to reach Fontana

I cannot edit posts in that GB thread - sorry. Let me amend that post to include XKR, Romey, Cass007 as folks you may want to PM Ryan.
