I'm thinking about stuff to sell like:

1-AEM Wideband UEGO
2-6 DeatschWerks 600cc injectors
3-used short block (would be a great as a table)
4-a kidney

The bill just getting fatter and fatter

Now I understand what you getting at

When I mad this thread I wasn't tying to blame anyone for this but just to share this misfortune experience and hope it will help people since there is no much info regarding the VQ35HR engines with FI. As a matter of fact the first day it happened I contacted some of the vendors here to get pricing for a short/long block VQ35HR and chosen Kyle@IPP to build me a short block.

Pretty sure he had an Osiris tune, and I highly doubt that was the cause.

Right... I think the tune is the last of his worries. That tune is the same tune dozens of other non blown HR's are running...

(edited)

I'm having a second thought about using Haltech for my build.

After calculating the amount of money that I need to spend to get the Haltech and with all its extensions and that I can get the HKS F-CON VPRO installed and tuned (pump+racegas) for ~$2500 (HKS released a harness for the HR http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=2026 )

Still thinking about it.

$1700 seems pretty pricey to hardwire the Haltech.

This doesn't look like just another failure due to power, one of the piston shattered, something must've went wrong. Just curious, did you upgrade the ignition system at all?

FYI, $725 is for the creation of an HR plug & play harness, not hard wiring it in. Hard wiring is of course available at no additional cost. Even the HR base map will be provided free of charge from us with purchase.

I understand completely. The way he originally worded it made me think that some shop over there was charging $1700 just to hardwire it to the OEM harness.

The rattle you talking about was from shifting (the cam mic magnified that)
The check engine light was from P 1078 code witch I fixed (changed the Exhaust valve timing control position sensor (bank 1)).

Thanks any way
The code was P1078 - IMRC valve stuck long
P1078 Exhaust Valve Timing Control Position Sensor (Bank 1)

How long ago was it that you had the IMRC issue? Does that valve corresponds with the cylinder that burnt? Just a thought.
