Thanks for the info jonnylaw. I based my opinion on the GTM unit off of the dyno numbers posted in this thread, and their build threads. I still think it is the GTM pulley that makes the additional power not the unit. Either way it looks as if 400 is the cap on this kit no matter what stage it is. I'm not bashing this kit at all, I love HKS.

You will NOT reach those numbers without a a GTM spec blower and possibly a GTM 85mm pulley. You are also missing a fuel return system or fuel pressure regulator.
What ems do you plan on running, if only using a reflash and running off of a maf sensor, you will need an upgraded maf. If you run a v-pro or similar, you can run off of map.
You will be better served getting at least a GTM Stage 1/2 kit or higher for your goals. Some of what you mention in mods will be included in the GTM kits, in addition to the GTM spec blower and/or pulley.

What I have found with the HKS kit is that there is no consistency on the figures, I searched for ages to figure out what sort of figures I would be making but in the end gave up because of the differences between them.
The stage 1 kit with the above mods "should" get you to the figures you want but every car will respond differently to the kit
Its something I've been looking at since before I got the kit. It can be done, just takes a bit of custom work to do it.

^^Why are you guys thinking of changing intercoolers? Are you seeing high IAT's? The intercooler supplied with the kit, albeit on the small size, is stated as having minimal pressure drop.

So that car in Japan is not running our system. They are using a GT-SC but it is likely a GTS8550 or GTS8555. Thus they must be using all new piping, new bracket, etc. The only part that is likely the same as in our kits is the air filter.
But let us know, it would be awesome to get one of the bigger blowers and make it work instead of trying to squeeze any more power out of the gts7040 by overspinning it.
I very much doubt that anyone can surpass 400/400 at the wheels (SAE) on a dynojet with the GTS7040 (our kits) without overspinning it. It is only rated to 400ps (~394hp): http://www.hksusa.com/info/?id=3767 I have not seen anyone make more power than what I put down and this was only achieved by overspinning the blower.
I wish HKS would have given us a bigger blower, but their argument was that our stock blocks cannot handle more power long term...

You can special order the larger blower as a universal kit and custom pulleys from HKS Japan now:

Well found my boost issue. My Berk Metallic Substrate HFC's are coming apart. I have a total of 4000 miles on this set.
I guess there not so good for forced induction set as advertised. "Perfect for forced induction use"
This is the set with the revised double gusset. They still broke at the welds. Oh well I guess it time for resonated test pipes.

Reason i ask, is because after my service the car feels like its lost power in the lower rev range (sub 4000rpm) Doesn't feel as strong as it used to.

I am having a trusted japanese vendor contact HKS Japan's secretary of inquiry to ask if the larger GTS8550 will fit the bracket and piping made for the GTS7040 (what came with our kits).
I will post the answer once received, although may take a few days given translation and time zones.
If it is compatible, I may consider upgrading, although for ~3,200, I might just sell my kit and buy a turbo/twin turbo kit.

Ok, according to tech support at HKSUSA, the larger superchargers will "bolt up" to the piping (close enough but not exact given the larger size).
However, the main problem is the bracket on the complete kit is designed to "surround" the blower. So the larger blowers will not fit in this bracket due to the larger size.
So, you would have to shave down/machine the bracket to make it fit. But in doing so, you would likely lessen the strength of the bracket and there will be the possibility of flex.
So, it's not a matter of just buying a larger blower and swapping it out.

I'm still waiting from HKS Japan. But the more I think about it and the more research I do on my own, I think the problem would not be in the bracket, but the piping and or room needed for the larger compressor section.
I believe all the GT SC's use a universal body where the pulley attaches and there are 3 bolts when it attaches to a bracket.
But the compressor sections are much larger on the GTS8550. I'm not sure how that would play out with piping and space available.
