Well, at $600 or so retail, and a part that is so critical, they might expect a call or two.

Really, it would be good for them to clarify which tolerances to use for which applications. It would not be too difficult for them to put something like this on the spec sheet:

App.______Clearance
N/A________0.0025"
to 10 psi____0.0030"
to 20 psi____0.0035"
over 20 psi__0.0040"

That would be awesome but the issue will arise when a owner sues wiseco because they followed their specs and there pistions binded in the bore. I would expect the term "Suggested Clearances" gets them away from this though.

I have to ask a stupid question. How can you specify a finished bore size if the piston to bore clearence can vary?

^^^

Good question for a Wiseco Engineer...

I think that they will tell you to select the finished bore size after you determine what clearance you need. That seems the most logical to me.

Nonetheless, if you have questions about Wiseco pistons/specifications, you might as well get it straight from the horse's mouth. Wiseco is only one phone call away, and they have good customer service. After you talk to them, please post what they say.
