yeah i have a 03 z with vortech on 3.33 and bc stage 2 cams... i also felt that i would be strong with my cams to 7200.. which i will be but i made the decision to keep it at 6900 rpms just because i dont want to overspin the blower... do u guys think thats ok. my tuner at rt tuning told me to go to 7200 but i dont think its realy safe.. since i hear that it really stresses the rods up past the stock rev limiter.. its super strong in the high revs with the cams .. its actually ridiculous with the blower IMO

Im running a Powerlab set-up on 8lbs. 06 rev-up model on stock block. Running a haltech system. Im just worried that 7k still is just too high.. 7.2 is the max i shifted on na so there's no way i'd wanna shift at that rpm boosted. I was thinkin maybe 6.6 or sumthin just to be a lil more on the safe side.

yeah i figured 6900 is probably the max ill be at. its right under 7k it should be fine im running the 3.33 with every bolt on so my max boost isnt even that high but pulls so hard with the cams .. i feel its running efficient and ok but u never know i guess

I don't think one can ever be sure. The car was tuned conservatively since it's a track car, and I then ran 100 octane on the track. But who knows for sure.

You OBVIOUSLY missed the point of my last post. If people come on here saying, it will probably break because 13 members have already had this happen due to this and that reason then I can say that it's a pretty solid reason not to rev that high.

Up to now, only ONE person has shown an engine that blew up while revving high...and that engine shows ring land damage which isn't something that normally goes when revving high.

The point is that misinformation keep people from doing things that in the long run may be beneficial for the community. Now if you guys so me some FIRST HAND experience from engines blowing up to over revving then I'll take that info into consideration but saying "JUST BECAUSE...." is really not what I'm looking for.

Hmmm...that's interesting. Do you have a thread dedicated to this mishap? I'd love to read it.

I've seen bearing failures, valvetrain failures, rod failures and even some random failures due to over revving but never ring land failure and don't even see the logic behind it.

Well, doing some calculations I see that 7100rpm is about the highest I can go anyways without overspinning the blower with the 3.12" pulley so I guess I'm limited here anyways. It comes out to 52,946rpm.

I spin my NA DE Oilburner to 7500 sitting on redline multiple times during drifting... not once has that motor missed a beat. I guess im the lucky one with massive timing and MS109 fuel. I also have a G35 Sedan with over 70k on a turbonetics kit that and I tuned it to 7500 day one but thats a daily for the wifey. Its overkill but hell at least i can lay the law on some HR's in the DE
