Default Import Parts Pro built blocks

I'm looking to build my bottom end and was looking for a specialized VQ engine builders and came across IPP and their competitive stage 1 short block. I know many of you guys ordered your blocks from Kyle, what I'm looking here is the long term users that had their blocks built by IPP and pushed there engines hard. How happy are you with your engine lasting? any regrets?

Another thing, the Wiseco/Eagle combo seems to be widely used in this forum. are they any good for 650whp Z? I know Eagle rods will hold anything you throw at them for a street car, but what about the 'off the shelf' Wiseco 8.8 CR pistons?

Regards.

on crates engines, keep it simple... and id recomend kyle. NO issues with pretty much any rod/piston combo you pick.

In any case, i think i could have search this section a bit more, i am sure this has been asked before... and getting opinion from long term users with totally difrferent driving styles, and all the many vairables need to be taken with a grain of salt(at the least).

Good luck with the build. Hope this is not jsut a dream thread

+1 on Kyle's great customer service...he was very flexible with me and cheerfully answered all my questions even as I kept bugging him over and over...

I currently have an Stage 2 IPP engine...for a total of 500 miles lol...so far so good...I'll give it a few more thousand miles before he gets my itrader rating

What happens if it fails? I can tell you that assigning blame will be impossible. If you are going to a shop to install it, have that one shop do everything and take responsibility for it all. Good luck.

PS. This has nothing to do with IPP specifically - anyone can make a mistake. You just need to plan for the worst.

dont be so negative .......i think with that in mind is why i told him that the simpler the build ont he engine the less chance for things to go wrong, and better if going witha crate engine. For anything in the OPs goals he can get a lot of power from a"basic" build bottom end.

Plan for the worst, hope for the best. No mantra is more appropriate in this forum than that one.

Thats what I'm planning for, keep it simple. Build the bottom end and call it a day. I already have the majority of the supporting mods. APS TT, 3" exhaust, cams, CJM fuel system w/ twin pumps, twin disk clutch etc..

So you guys think the Wiseco will do just fine? I know many 300zx guys pushing these pistons past the 850whp with no issues. If I'm not mistaken SP uses them in their 1200whp Z, but are they using off the shelf Wiseco pistons or a modified version as a heavy duty pistons?

Just had kyle build my motor back in January. I only have 250 miles on it right now, but the motor sounds great, and so far no problems lol. I know that isnt much milage but the motor started up first try and had no smoke or anything small problems. It gets tuned this coming saturday so Ill be able to put kyle motor work to the test. Ill report back with numbers then.

If anyone has read the meaty threads of this page, they would know rc is DEAD ON.

I'll second his statement to plan for the worst, hope for the best. My friend is currently going through just such a scenario with his car. His STI just blew up again 200 miles after the motor went in, but luckily this time all the building, parts, etc blame lies in one shop so they are going to help him. He is also a huge idiot for building his DD and continuing to do so after losing his job, but that is another story.

Most of the terribly dramatic threads here involve an engine from Xshop, put in/tuned by Bshop, or installed by Bshop and tuned by Cshop.

This is the best advice anyone can give. It stops all the finger pointing if something goes wrong. Kyle seems to build good motors. I haven't heard any real complaints.

I've heard nothing but good things about your customer service and IPP motors.

A built shortblock would be a prudent investment to compliment your PowerLab kit.
