oh for sure. I just assumed by saying "oh the highway" and the cool nights people would assume i was meaning a street vehicle.

for a car that's going to be tracked all the time then it really wouldn't matter either way. having it open all the time or a thermo unit would both provide the same results because on a track you're probably going to be over 180* anyways. They have different heat ranges for them too.

simplistically for less chance of something malfunctioning during a race the continually open one i guess is the safest bet.

ours is a 20x1.5mm

http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/p...Sandwich_Plate

this is what i have by mocal. it has 1/2" (8an) straight cut outputs that require an ORB (oring) straight 8an fitting into them.

It says thermostat opens at 160 and full open by 180. They also have just adapter plates without thermo.

These are really going to pump someone up:

http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/p.../OilCoolerKits
full oil cooler kit for 180$ with 10an lines! This is non-thermostat

http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/p.../OilCoolerKits
oil cooler kit with thermostat and 10an lines. 240$

that's just crazy! now, remember when you look at these they come with straight hose ends. If you need a 90 deg fitting you can also get them from that store.

That's insane deals!

Okay, so the sandwich adapter to mount to the VQ is M20x1.5, but what is the corresponding filter size? 3/4-16???

Looking up sandwich adapters online and running across the different filter male sides and i need to verify...

no, it should be the same. you get the 20x1.5 and that will have a female 20x1.5 to thread on to the stock bolt and on the other side will be 20x1.5 male for the oil filter.

shouldn't be any changes unless you are trying to switch to an other than OEM filter.

i just purchased a wide 10 row earl's cooler. 41008ERL or somethign like that.

From racerpartswholesale they have 2 coolers with their kits. a 24 row and a 48 row. drop down menu at the top left of the website, select "oil coolers and kits"

So that kit for 240 is pretty much the best deal you can get it seems?

Doubling the size of the cooler for 25 bucks is bananas.

ya, that's an amazing deal. just remember to get some 90 degree fittings if you need them. it comes with straight fittings (for cost reasons of course).

you could even buy the cooler and the sandwich plate from them and use the premade lines from the other company and make out like a bandit. 60$ for premade lines, 85$ for sandwich, and i think it's like 75$ for the cooler.

OK here we go. Each pic is a link to each product.

TRU-Cool 24 Row Racing Oil Cooler : $44.99

Mocal Sandwich Plate- 20mm Thread: $86.99

AN10 Stainless Braided PTFE (Teflon) Oil Line, Fitting Angle 90 to 90, 48" Length X 2 $29 x 2

Aeroquip Straight Male Connector, Alum. -10 to 1/2" $3.60 x 2

Mocal 1/2" BSP x -10 fitting $15.99 x 2

Thats $229.16 for a full oil cooling solution for your Z. I dont know if it gets better then that. And if you want any more cooling, spend 25 bucks more and get a cooler double the size!

I think I got everything binder. Let me know if I missed anything.

depends on how you point it. oil pressure sensor is right in front of the filter so you might be hitting it coming straight forward.

I'm running 2 90's on the filter and on the cooler.

your fittings are wrong.

That cooler has 1/2" NPT threads so you need a 1/2NPT to 10an fitting (x2) for that one

The mocal uses 8an thread so you need 8an o-ring to 10an for it (x2)

the 20x1.5 is the thread pitch and size of the oil filter.

also, make sure you have room to mount an 11x11" cooler. that's pretty big!

also, 60" is 5 feet. i'm not sure where you plan on mounting it but i measured out from the crash bar where mine will be mounted to the sandwich plate as 3 feet. depending your location you might want to use the 48" lines unless you plan on just tieing up the extra slack.

The NPT to Jic/an adapter is cheaper than that BSP adapter too.

I wish I still worked for my old company, so I can sell these things to forum members.

BSP is just british straight pipe. straight AN thread is the same thing. 8AN is straight thread 1/2". You get the oring one and you're good.

either way, looks like you have everything you need! sick setup
