Well, as far as hardware goes I really don't see any reason what-so-ever why the tranny would even make a difference (maybe, just MAYBE clearance issues due to size of tranny, but even then, still not very likely). The only real place I can see that might differ is the electronic aspect. And I'm pretty sure that shouldn't be too big a hurdle to overcome. And as far as Turbo or S/C, It's gonna be a personal choice thing, honestly, you will have ppl swear that the Turbo is the only way to go and that S/C is garbage, and vice-versa... look at pros and cons, and make an informed decision
Edit: Oh, Find out how much HP the stock auto. is rated for. You might have to do a few things to that, if u get crazy with ur turbos, but it would be the equivalent of getting a new clutch on a manual

The AT tranny is pretty strong and can handle upto 350 to 400 I THINK.
To make it a lot reliable, you will need an A/T cooler a Valve Body Upgrade and if you have extra cash, get a set of high performance clutch packs.
If you need more info about these upgrades, hit the search button. Good luck!

i met a guy recently who had an auto z turbo'd and he said that the auto tranny will hurt if you boost too high, i didn't get into details with the fellow but he's pretty well known for his z's around here and told me he'd gone thru 3 transmissions b4 dumping it and going to a 370z.
so YES it is possible... will it be in your best interest? only if your not boosting like crazy and driving recklessly...
i want to go F.I. with my auto but im thinking of going SC.
and the correct nissan term for our autos are "automatic transmission with manual shift mode"

What is with these responses? Listen to bigc, and READ the stickied FI for noobs thread. The 5AT will blow away most drivers with the same power in a 6MT because there is quite honestly, less skill required to keep full boost during shifts. I've been running 500 wtq for 2 yrs, 15k miles on my GTM-5AT with no issues so far.
For perhaps the 20th time now that I've written this, you need a large trans cooler and a valve body before going FI on a 5AT. That's it.
