AFTER SOME RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE VARIOUS MANUFACTURERS OF CAM POSITION SENSORS, EACH WITH A DIFFERENT ANGLE TO THE ELECTRICAL PINS...MAYBE THIS CAN WORK TO PROVIDE CLEARANCE FOR THE COG BELT AND POSSIBLY, ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR A PROTECTOR...ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS? sorry caps oops!

I also have a 34 tooth cog and it has minimum clearance with the solenoid ? (white connector)..Hard to measure but using a metal feeler it miked to about about 0.150 in clearance. Getting a shield around it is problematic..

At this point I'm really confused at what we are trying to protect...Thought it was the white connector and whatever its function is from being destroyed if the cog belt breaks...

Your pic and guard (white straps) does what? Help me out here..

they are trying to protect the connector and harness shown in the attached picture.

the white straps (wire ties?) at the top of str8dum1's picture are holding a cover over the main engine wiring harness - i guess it could also get hit if the cog belt shreds. if i'm looking at this correctly, the guard he used to protect the connector is attached to the bolt to the right of the dipstick.

ya those are just zip ties with some thick hose to protect the main wire harness.. The wires that short the ecu are the IVT solenoid like BigC posted.

When my cog belt shredded from bein too tight, it only took out my IVT wires and a hood insulation.

Thats why the focus needs to be on the IVT wires.

The op has made a big protection strip thats pretty excessive. You just have to block the IVT wires. Bolting a guard into the valve covers is way easier. my cover is the vortech IC bracket that you use to temporary align the intercooler and a piece of metal from lowes.

Got it..Thanks. White connector carries the signal from the solenoid. Problem however is the clearance of .015 in with the 34T cogger...No way to block the connector with this clearance and not rub against the belt/gear..

do you still have that spacer block installed behind your bracket? perhaps that is throwing things out of alignment
