Default Anyone try the Nitto INVOs?

I figured I would ask in here where all the high power junkies are. I am ordering new tires for my 370z. The car will be twin turbo before spring, so I need a lot of tire.

On my 350z I was using 305/35/18 R888s and LOVED them.

I am going 275/35/19 and 305/30/19 even though there is evidence that the 370z can fit a lot more... its too early to get solid information on the max tire size, and i am not going to take the $4000-5000 risk.

The invos come in the exact size combo I want. If I were to use a R888 I would have to use a different type of tire in the front, which I did on my 350z anyway. But I recently saw a video of a 9.88 Viper at the track and I was told he was on the INVOs.

I am curious if anyone here, 500+ rwhp has tried the invos or even better yet, tried invos and R888 and could give a comparison? I trust the R888s and im kinda nervous that the INVOs are not going to be able to put down the power. The INVOs are also plenty less expensive through my suppliers. I could always go INVO front and R888 rear... but ill go straight invos if someone says they are the ****.

Said Viper (I have no confirmation on INVOs, was just told that on a viper forum): 9.88 viper

im not 500+ but as far as street tires Invos are the best ive ever owned, they stick better than BFG KDWs (except in rain). Of course with 3.5gears and 400+lb/ft TQ i cant get any traction in first but i usually hook at the top of 2nd.

im running 255/285 35 R19 Invos

i think im trying to compare apples to oranges here since the invos are a 220 treadwear versus the r888 at 100. But I suppose technology and tread design can bridge gaps in that... but the invo just honestly doesnt look like it has as much rubber touching the ground... big *** water channels and i honestly dont care how it performs in the rain.

but what i am noticing, is that in the 305/30/19 size the R888 is .4" narrower than the INVO. I am wondering if the invos extra .4" can make the difference there.

im kinda dissappointed actually because my 18 inch 305 R888 was a 12.4" wide tire, where the 19 inch 305 is a 12.0"... wtf.

I use the Nitto Invo's as my street tire
for that sole purpose they are great and better than most street tires out there.

If you trying to compare a street tire with a R-Compound tire the R-Compound tire will always win.

I also have Toyo R888 305 on 18's for when it's time to put the business down or track.

A buddy of mine (who is a member here) has a high HP G35 and has run Invos, as far as I know he had huge traction issues, and switched to the 555R2, pretty sure he still has traction issues though.

No experience with the Invos but I just switched out the R888s after 2 yrs - was looking for something a little more street friendly. R888s when hot, on good roads, just stick - but they also pick up so much gravel and what not if roads are poor and then traction falls off. I just switched to the RE-11s and they seem to stick better in cooler weather than the R888s on the street. They are holding ok in the 500+ whp/wtq range even just a few minutes after starting up. The RE-11s are no R888 though - I continue to spin in 2nd and sometimes a little in 3rd gear even when hot (though I haven't put many miles on them yet). I could sometimes use 1st gear with my R888s. That's definitely not possible now. Anyway, the RE-11s are a decent compromise if you're looking for options for the street. Low noise, comfortable ride to boot.

EDIT: looked up treadwear = 180, price is much less than the R888s but not as cheap as the Invos.

i tired invo's and pirelli corsa and i dont think they will be ok with high HP.

i noticed that they have very good grip when they are still fresh, but after sometime they will start to give high noise and loose traction quick. i can see lots of muscle cars using them i guess cause of the availability of sizes.

my tires was 285/40/18. but maybe when you go higher sizes they perform differently i am not sure.

as for the corsa, i use to race evo's from 1st gear rolling and kick thier asses badly. they were just amazing.

my car was pushing 389whp on dynojet.

The Invo's with their solid block design on the inside is geared towards less wear due to negative camber at least that is the way I read it when I had bought my original set.

My new tires only 2 companies make that size so it was either Pirelli or Nitto, I went with Nitto since they are a good performance tire. They worked good when heated but you will still have traction issue on lower gears

they don't hook. great street tire and amazing in the wet but my $80 fullruns i had gripped better. Can't really judge by me though, not much rubber on the ground (245's at that time). I cut 2.0 60ft with invos 1.8 with the chinese $h!t
a friend of mine on his stock 350z and 295/35/R18 invos can't slip them if he tries.

I'd look into the Nitto NT05s. A guy is running INVOs for autocross and the track on an OEM Nismo and isn't all that impressed with them but that is a subjective opinion. Grassroots Motorsports has done some good street tire writeups lately. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/art...-tires-part-1/ that offer a little more objective evaluation of tire performance.

I'm running the INVO's for my summer tires. 255/35 20(F) 285/30 20(R) And they are great. Not at 500+ but at 400~ And they deff hold good. Got them 2 days before turbos started and I couldn't even get them to chirp before, and now with the turbos they are a little chirpy but at 400, rather than 245 I'm not totally surprised. Good on road noise and so far wear too.

What are you planning on doing with them? If you want to take corners at higher speeds(anything over 50), forget it; the sidewalls are butter. For straight line, they're alright I guess. They suck in the rain...at least for me. I can't go over 55 without floating.

I just burned through a set in a year. I hate them SO much that I will never buy another Nitto tire.

Just went with the RE11s... I figure they are a good compromise between the INVO and the r888

100 or 500 horsepower makes little difference. Yes Nitto Invo have been tested: https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-...uld-i-get.html

LOL. 400 whp makes for a difference! 3 year old data makes for a difference too.

Car and Driver tests were done 16 months ago. Nitto Invo finished 8 out of 9. Poor showing validated Consumer Reports results.

For argument sake lets say the tests were done on a car with 500 horsepower, and Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 finished first. This would mean that the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 is a POOR choice for a car with 250 horsepower? That of course would be absurd.

A superior performing tire will be a superior performing tire or a car with 200, 300 or 400 horsepower.

Other options, like the RE11, I suppose weren't available back then and were not tested - so it is dated whether its 1 month old or 16 months. Also those tests don't test high hp rwd cars for straight line dry traction performance (these are for rear tires only keep in mind). So those tests and what the OP was looking for are definitely apples to oranges. Based on those tests, one would think that the PS2 would grip better than the Invos. I doubt it based on what i've heard and my experience with PS2 tires.

I do always check out the tire rack ratings though - lots of driver experiences posted with high rwhp cars (for the high perf tires)... that's how I ended up with the RE11s. That is a much better, up to date review source on tires, imo.

I run 305mm Invos they stick hard, for street tires they are great.
