Default 476rwhp on Stock Block

This weekend i made 476rwhp 439ft-lb @10.5psi on my APS TT 04 G35 stock block (99kmiles) on pump w/o meth tuned with Osiris. Before the sh*tstorm begins let me say, I requested Jon@Z1 up the boost to make this power, the tune is VERY conservative, and i dont really use this setting, its reserved for a C6 Z06, Gt500, Built Block ZTT etc. AND im not relying on this block to last, im in the process of building a block (already disassembled now ordering parts) and although i do drive my G everyday i do not have to rely on it as my DD. So if she blows its not the end of the world

Thanks,

btw that spike in the upper rpm was a slight boost spike,

and i forgot to mention we only ran it to 6800rpm to make sure we stayed off the limiter, trying to keep it in one piece

I was making 445rwhp on the old tune (before boost controller), it has 5-6k miles at that power. The block has 99k total miles

just dont take hwy pulls in 5,6th gear at high boost and you'll be fine.

trq is really low for that kit, so that will help a bunch as well.

yea i try to stay out of 6th
the TQ i think is just because its only ~10psi, that = 20ft-lb per HP over NA, the only reason the HP number is so much higher is it sustains it, likely do to the 3.5" Downpipes and the slight boost spike we saw at the top (to 10.5psi)

I always hit it hard in 3rd-4th n 5th... no problems. I dont hold it much in boost in 6th .. but then again its not even needed unless you were trying to top it out every time.. between my vortech and single i have about 35-40K miles.

lol @ getting boosted and have to worry about not doing high speed runs and keeping out of boost in 5th and 6th...

great numbers, but good luck with all that.

I would be more concerned with low gear acceleration with all that torque down low, over high speed runs. Even in 3rd if you hit it at 3000rpm, the stress on the rods will be much higher than a top speed run do to the torque. This of course applies if you have good rubber with good grip.

Like i said im in the process of building a block, and i have 2 VQ longblocks, so im not really worried about it. I driveit like i stoleit and run anything worth the gas.

i agree, but i think that low end TQ also saves it, because of it i cant get traction until top of 2nd in warm weather. (295 BFG KDWs) So in 1st and most of second gear it really doesnt build much boost and beyond that im out of peak TQ range so the rods dont get as much abuse as they would on DRs or if it was a laggy TQ curve

Hmm…I’m more concerned about pulls in higher gears than down low; in a 5th or 6th gear pull you’re going to spend more time in each gear, there’s more load on the engine, EGT’s are going to climb higher, etc.

Of course with a good tune you’ll probably be OK but the risk is going to be greater than a pull in 2nd or 3rd gear.

True, thats more likely to cause detonation and BOOM, but lower gears when going through the peak TQ range is when it is most likely ill bend/break a rod, which is the weakest link of the stock block. But as conservative as the tune is im not as worried about detonation, on higher boost its running low 11AFRs and VERY conservative timing.

so be concerned at low and high speeds... great. good thing OP is getting ready build. OP beat the crap out of it and see how much she can handle before popping!
